A few more Odyssey 2011 pics
Haven't had much to report or show as we've been hanging out in the Denver area for quite some time now. Mostly seeing old friends, one of whom is very sick with cancer and in the hospital. We did venture out to Colorado Springs for a brief tour of the USAF Academy. If you ever get a chance its worth the time. Quite an interesting facility. None of my pics do the cathedral justice. It's a marvelous building. Hope you all are enjoying your summer trips. Hope to see ya somewhere on the backroads of America!

I spent four years of my life in SAC (Strategic Air Command) and I still love seeing pics of B-52's. Without a doubt the B-52 is the most awesome bomber ever produced. The first flights of this bomber for the Air Force were in '54/'55 and that aircraft is still in service today.

Re: A few more Odyssey 2011 pics
Thanks for the photos. Someday we're going to get out on those backroads of America. Actually plan on getting off the beaten track a few days when we head to Florida this fall.
When we lived near Keesler AFB on the MS coast, we had the opportunity to see B-52s occasionally - that was such an awesome sight.

The B-52 is definately one they got right. I'm not aware of any other fixed wing aircraft that is still in active service after so many years. I go through Bossier City, LA often and I-20 goes very close to the North end of one of their runways. You can really get some great views when they are doing instrument approaches and/or touch and go.

Re: A few more Odyssey 2011 pics
Gerry,
Your pix brought back many happy memories for me. I was stationed at the AFA from Oct of 67 to Jan of 69. Being on my first hitch, the DW and I didn't have access to base housing, so we lived in a trailer park in Palmer Lake, just a few short miles north of the Academy.
My time there was spent as a staff photographer doing general photography in support of the Academy activities. Loved the assignment and the Academy proper.

Sad to say but as the old song goes, "stuck in Lodi again", that is actually Grand Junction, CO. Major frame break, dropped trailer almost to truck bed, major repair, much dismay, expensive, extended warranty should cover but will probably abandon Wildcat. Mine is not Lippert! Must have subbed it out to some chassis outfit in Whittier, CA according to repair facility. Hopefully pics and more details later. Currently staying with a friend in Denver. It's a bummer of a summer!

Oh man, I am so sorry to hear of your major problem. I hope you don't have any issues with the company that you have the extended warranty through. Hopefully your life will get back to normal.

I am so sorry to hear that. It sounded like you were going to have a summer to brag about for years. Hope all works out for you. Any repair to your truck?

They had a wing of B47's and later B52's at March AFB, out side of Riverside California. It was fun watching them take of and land.

Had them at Castle in Merced. We on flight plan. Loved it when they did the 500 foot fly byes during the 1st Gulf War. Also Offit had them. I think I spell right. They took off over you since the main road went into a tunnel and under the main strip.
