Washed the roof with pressure washer

Post by Sean on 7/17/2011, 6:05 am

I thought I would wash the roof today so I found an old rotary brush and plumed it in to my pressure washer and scrubbed the roof. wow it wash an easy way to do the job. When I washed it last year it was still not that clean, but this time it is a lot better and I bid not get the streaking down the side of the van due to the rush of water coming from the rotary brush. I also noticed some black spotting before I started cleaning is this normal or should I start worrying. ( I don't think I worry it's only worldly goods and they can be replaced or if your lucky repaired.

Hi Sean,

Here on the East Coast of the USA, the black/dark gray spots are usually mold.

I wash mine with Spic & Span powder and some Murphy soap, then spray Tilex( its a bleach) on the entire roof. Let the Tilex sit for a while, dampening the roof every 5 or so minutes, then brush, rinse good, then hit it again with the spic & Span/Murphy soap combo again.

All this is done on a cloudy day, so the roof doesn't dry up fast.

This year, I tried 303 Aerospace Protectant on the roof after it was all cleaned, made it real slippery and shiny, don't know if it will last long, its its pretty now....

Does this mean I'll have to keep scrubbing until I remove all the black spots?. AwwMan

I am not overly concerned with the black spots. I scrubbed pretty good and they didn't come off. I used the power washer as well, but turned the pressure down.

Nope, not at all, just try a little Tilex and see if that takes them off.

Or just leave them, its supposedly doesnt hurt anything.
