Slideout overhead cabinet sag
The two cabinets located over my couch and dinette in the slide are starting to pull away from the ceiling. I can see screw threads in the crack between the cabinet and ceiling of the slide (aprox 3/8 inch gap). There are no screw heads exposed on the inside of the cabinet. Has anyone had this experience, how exactly are the cabinets secured to the roof of the slide? Thanks so much, Dan

Re: Slideout overhead cabinet sag
Never heard of this one before.
There might be a "false top" to your cabinets. When we installed a fan underneath one of our cabinets in the back end of the trailer, we had to snake the wiring in between two boards. One was the bottom of the cabinet (outside), and one was the floor of the cabinet (inside). The cabinets might have a "false top" with a space between the two layers, so you probably wouldn't find screw heads. See if you can remove the top board in the cabinet to expose that air space.
How old is your trailer? Is it still under warranty? If it is, take it to your dealer and let them figure it out.

I agree. If under warranty take it back. More than likely another example of one size screw for the whole trailer even if it to short. FR is good for that. If not under warranty I would take it to my dealer to repair that one anyway. Let them worry about punching holes in the side if they use to long of screws. Be up to them to fix it. My humble opinion.

Re: Slideout overhead cabinet sag
What a fantastic forum, thanks for the welcome and information. My Wildcat is an 05, 29RLBS, we are new to the forum and new to 5 wheeling. We had a Class A for many years and I am so happy I can use the word "HAD" - my problems and headachs are smaller, my joy is greater. We will be leaving for our first long trip (4 months or so) in August and hope this is just a start of many trips to come.

Dan,
Four months! That sounds great. A few of our members have gone out for extended trips, and have had great reports. Please learn how to post pictures so you can share some scenes of your trip in our Trip Report Forum. Here is a website for posting pix:

Re: Slideout overhead cabinet sag
I hope it is resolved. So, those cabinets in the upper slide were simply cabinet fronts and bottoms. The cabinet fronts had a small 1/2 x 1/2 piece running the length. About 5 screws 1 1/2 inches long were screwed upward into the slide. 3 of the screws were going into nothing but air, they missed the studs. I found a few studs and secured it with slightly larger screws and used construction adhesive to secure it. Very few studs in the top of the slide from what I could see, it seemed poorly built. Wish me luck on the glue thought, may bring down everything - I hope not. Thanks all. Dan
