Davis Bayou

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 7/7/2011, 9:54 am

Has anyone here ever stayed at Davis Bayou, Gulf Islands National Seashore, Ocean Springs, MS? We are thinking about spending a night or two on our way to/from Florida this fall. We have visited the interpretive center and walkways a couple times in the past. We'd like to have a look in the fall, to see how it changes with the seasons.

How was the campground? We've driven through it, and it looks okay. The sites didn't seem to be clearly defined at that time, but it might have still been recovering after Hurricane Katrina.

Is security a problem? We noticed that the entrance was unattended when we drove through. I believe campers are supposed to pick a site and place their fee in a box. We can stay there for half price with our Golden Age Passports.
