New Member and owner of a 2011 Wildcat Sterling, did I make the right choice?
Greetings to all.
First I would like to thank all whom put together this forum.
My wife and I purchased a 2011 Wildcat 32RL Sterling edition. This will be our first fifth wheel.
Owning top line slide in campers for the last 20 years we finally decided to purchase a fifth wheel.
I have read several reviews, however my main concern is that I purchased a quality product that can be used 4 seasons, and that the product will last for many years?
We are from Powell, WY. (70 miles east of Yellowstone).
We would appreciate any input regarding the quality of our purchase..... Mike

Mike,
First,
From Winona and Ft. Knox.
Second, my experience with our WC 29RLBS has been good. I have made a few mods which have made it even better. In my opinion, how long and how well any unit will perform is due in part to the materials and methods used to build it but also to how well it is maintained and serviced. I believe that really well cared for campers will serve their owners well for many years.
I don't know anything about the four season ability of the Sterling line.
My $0.02.

Re: New Member and owner of a 2011 Wildcat Sterling, did I make the right choice?
A very big
to the forum. Being in the south we are able to use our Cat for all 4 seasons. Last year we got into temps in the lower 20's. I don't know how your Sterling edition is rated for cold temps.
We use an electric heater, with the propane furnace set at a temp that will make it turn on about once every 45 minutes. That keeps it warm enough in the living area, and above freezing in the basement where the water pipes are located. In extreme cold weather, we can leave cabinet doors open to keep the pipes below the sinks from freezing.
We have an electric mattress pad that we turn on about 20-30 minutes before we go to bed. That makes the bed toasty warm before we get in it. Then we either turn the mattress pad completely off, or more likely, turn it down to it's lowest setting. The only room that gets cold is the toilet room - we keep the ceiling fan/vent open all the time in there. You'll need some ventilation to keep the walls from condensating too much.
Our walls still condensate around the windows in the bedroom slide - that's because we breathe. We keep thinking we should sleep with our heads at the foot end of the bed to keep the humidity from building up in the confines of the slide, but we haven't tried that yet. Maybe we will when we go on our January/February trip next winter.

to the forums...That's one sharp looking unit you got there.
Not sure if your cat is four season or not, most are just three.Maybe the newer ones are different.Hope you enjoy your new rig.

from Ft. Worth! Looked at the new Sterling at the RV show. Really like the lay-out of the bedroom. Nice to be able to make the bed from both sides.

In my opinion the only wrong decision is to not own one. You will love it.
