New Doggie Door

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 7/2/2011, 4:32 am

We are taking care of our granddoggers, Laverne and Shirley, for the weekend. This morning I went to let them out, and before I could get the screen door open, Laverne made her own door. We had been talking about putting in a doggie door, but figured we'd just open the big door whenever they wanted out. Well, Scruffy is out looking for a doggie door... probably will have to go to Lowe's or Home Depot. Laughing

When we moved here 4.5 years ago, we put in a very temporary dog yard inside the big yard. Last year when he had the wooden fence across the back of our property replaced, we also had the fence builder put in 3ft fence posts around a new dog yard. We attached wire fence to it, and it looks pretty good, and keeps them up close to the house.

I see geese in the yard, perhaps that's why Laverne made the instant doggie door.

Your post about the doggie door reminded me one of the cutest doggie door setups I've ever seen. It was on a travel trailer at Ocean Lakes campground in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Oh - those are Tulsa geese. We've had them for about 10 years. They stay inside the yard, and never try to get away. Laughing

Scruffy fixed Laverne's temporary exit. Nothing was torn, and all he had to do was remove some trim, staple the screen, and replace the trim.

Then he installed the new doggie door. Laverne quickly learned to use it, but Shirley, being very stubborn, has been resisting. She went through the door this morning without too much coaxing, so it shouldn't take too long. Then they'll go back home, and next time they are here, they'll have to learn all over again. Laughing

This is Laverne using the doggie door.

Not those geese. Laughing The only time they move is when the lawn gets mowed.
