portable satellite dish
Ok...I bit the bullet and bought a Winegard MP-1 portable satellite dish.
Is it possible that someone can take a few minutes and let me know step by step what I need to do to get cable tv inside my WC 29rlbs?
I have direct TV and am taking the standard receiver from one of our bedrooms and would like to be able to at least get cable channels in the living room. I can work on figuring out how to get cable to the tv in the bedroom at a later date.
Also, is there anything else I need to have on hand to get it up and running?
Just a big thanks to everyone who has responded to my questions in the past. Everyone in the forums have always been so helpful and friendly! Can't wait to go FULLTIME!

Re: portable satellite dish
Depends on the year of your WC and your TV. If I added a Winegard to mine I would just hook it up to the TV input on the side of the trailer, take the cable from the back of the TV and hook it to the receiver, run a new cable from the receiver to the TV and then adjust the TV settings accordingly. I have one hook up on the side of my WC.

On our 2006 Cat, I just plugged it into the cable input. Our cable input spot also had a phone hook up. I later added another coax just for salellite, and put a power point where the phone plug was. We have a carry out which runs on 12 volt.

Re: portable satellite dish
I hook mine to the cable hook up on the outside. Once on the inside I connect the in side of the jumper to the satellite receiver. I come out of the satellite receiver with coax and go into the other side of the jumper connection. This gets the tv signal from the receiver to all the other tv's in the cat. Of course its like your house all the tv's have the same thing showing but that way I can lay in bed and watch tv!!
Most of you probably know this but for those that don't the connection from the dish to the dish receiver is what cannot be run through rv's tv system ie the antenna booster. Once you go from the satellite to the receiver what comes out of the receiver is just like cable in a manner of speaking so it can run through the antenna booster with no problems.

Re: portable satellite dish
With my dish mounted on the roof the cable runs down the side of the entertainment center and into the receiver. I then just use a scart lead to make the final connection.
