Working the bugs out
We have lived in the WC for a month and took it in for some warranty work yesterday plus to change out the tank less water heater some of the problems we are having.
1. It finally rained in our part of Texas Tuesday night, Wednesday we notice the carpet felt slightly damp in the bedroom from the side of the bed through the door way toward the bathroom, then Thursday when I was disconnecting to take into dealer I found the storage compartment under the bedroom slide had water standing in it at the section by the side door.
DEALER can not find a leak any where
Looking at it I think if enough water is running down the side of the slide there is a good possibility it will get past the rubber seal on the bottom nearest the wall where it goes over a piece that angles out through the seal, thence down into the compartment with some going to the bedroom floor,
any suggestions to correct this leak the dealer can't find.
2. While moving the dinette chairs I noticed I felt like I was going down hill toward the wall, I got a level out and put it on the dinette table and found it out of level with the wall side being lower, I also put the level on the floor and got the same reading, I checked the sink area across from the dinette and got level readings so it is the slide only. Is this normal

Re: Working the bugs out
Our slide leans a little out of level. Might be normal. Be sure your slide is all the way out. When it goes all the way out, you can see it settle in a bit. Our tilt is very slight, and we just don't worry about it any more.
We were getting a little delamination below the bedroom slide. Our black rubber trim was torn on one side. We had the trim replaced on that side at our local trailer dealer/repair place (not a Wildcat dealer). After getting it replaced, Scruffy noticed that the replacement went OVER the bottom trim, and the side trim on the other side went under the bottom trim. Water would go down the side trim and go into the bottom trim on the side that wasn't replaced. On the side that was replaced, the water couldn't do that anymore. Scruffy taped the side that was still getting water in it, and it seems to have helped. I'm sure some of the water was also getting inside the trailer and onto the bedroom floor. I don't think we have a picture, but if you'd like I can go out and take one.

Re: Working the bugs out
Thanks for the input Tater, the slide tilt is not that much and doesn't seem to hurt anything, having never had slides before I just want to make sure its not something that will be a problem later. As far as the bedroom slide I'll take another look at how the seal runs to make sure they are under the bottom one or at least a the same.
Frank thanks for the link to the older post, seems like a problem that has persisted for several years despite a minor redesign by FR. I am going to look closer at mine to determine if there is some way I can add some calk to the lower corner to keep water out.

Re: Working the bugs out
1.Two things to look for is the bottom seal is under the side seals, not on top of the side seals.
2.The metal bottom corner that run along the bottom side.
a. Mine has the screws on the side with the rubber cover strip.
b. Others has the screws coming from the bottom with the rubber
cover strip.
1. Some of these have had water channeled from the outside
to the inside of the bedroom betwen the metal and the rubber
cover strip. Some have cut the rubber short before it enters
bedroom.

Re: Working the bugs out
Frank mine is like yours with the metal strip at the bottom with screws on the side covered with the rubber strip. My vertical rubber seal at the trailer side is flat coming down the slide side but near the bottom is a metal strip coming from the inside at about a 45 degree angle to meet that bottom strip and when the side seal goes over it there is a area where it is pushed out after passing over this strip, looks to me if a quantity of water was flowing down the side of the slide went over this metal strip a portion could flow thru the seal to the inside. Course it may not rain here in Texas for another six months but I hope to head north next month to the cool country.

Bill....did you use the San-T-Flush on disconnect? See my thread about the leaking Backflow valve which is hidden behind control panel wall... my water was leaking in same location as yours..

John I used it the day before the rain but I'll have to check, I thought when yours leaked it was on the curb side and you got water by the main door and compartment next to the door, my water was in the street side compartment.

Re: Working the bugs out
Our couch goes to the middle of the slide. The center of our slide floor drops about 1/2 inch. Right under the couch. Needs screws and glue soon.

Dan any idea why the center of your slide drops? Guess I am looking at the same thing, my slide has the dinette table and two recliners in it.

Re: Working the bugs out
They can not figure out why. With all the problems I had in the beginning maybe they used 1/4 inch plywood. Could be a bad piece of board. Ideas could be almost endless. QC was not available when they made my Cat. Thunder rolled in Oregon we the big wigs got wind of the CAT. Solution is to screw and glue to the couch frame with metal brace. Just have not gotten around to it.

Re: Working the bugs out
Bill,
Most of the bedroom slide leaks are caused by the water getting behind the vinyl strip that covers the screws on the edge of the bedroom slide. Mine leaked for a good 2 years before I found it.
Best thing to do is, pull the vinyl peice out so its not going inside the weather strip rubber, then hit it with the hose to see if you get any water in.
I did extensive mods to my trim trying to find where the water was coming in, and it ended up being the vinyl causing the problem.
If this stops the water, just trim the vinyl back to its just short of the black rubber.
Let us know how you make out. If you need any help, just ask...

Re: Working the bugs out
Dealer said they sprayed it good and no leak but you know how that goes
Since rain is few and far between around here I'll try and hit it with the water hose Monday or Tuesday and see what happens if it leaks then I'll try removing that strip covering the screws on the bottom side and see what we get.
