SLIDE COMING APART !!!

Well when I set up friday my one slide started going out funny, so I pulled it back in and start sliding it out again and it was fine. Had a great weekend loaded up and went to put the cat back in the storage place when I noticed that one side stuck out further then the other. This is what I saw. Nothing on my end jammed and there was nothing between the slide that would get stuck.... Has anyone seen this before?

I can't really tell from your pic...
Is it just the trim pulled loose or the actual slide wall coming apart?

Re: SLIDE COMING APART !!!
Definitely not good! I hope you have it under roof or tarp to keep it dry until you get it in for repair.
I've not seen that on a new unit of any brand but nothing surprises me anymore.

Wonder if the slide mechanism is somehow pulling it apart when you close it up?

Could you take a picture from a side on view of the cat (about 10ft away) and then one of the damage so that I can get an idea of the extent of the problem

In this photo it looks to me as though the trim around the slide (which attaches to the body of the WC) is pulling loose. It looks like thew outer seal is attached to this trim piece.
Is this happening all around the slide or just on this side?

It's happening on the lower corner only.

Re: SLIDE COMING APART !!!
I agree with Glen. Must be happening as the slide is extended. Pretty significant to pull the screws out of the wall. If its only in an isolated spot, check to see if something is dragging or catching at that spot as the slide is extending.

Re: SLIDE COMING APART !!!
Another thing to check would be to look behind the strip to determine if the screw(s) enter something solid.

That's a good point Glen. After all, it IS a Forest River product, and we know the impeccable reputation their QC dept has.

It looks to me like it was not in something solid. I will let you know I am dropping it off tomorrow. Man I hope they get it fix by the 4th of July weekend. They said " o yeah we will have it done".

Re: SLIDE COMING APART !!!
FR has a length fit all policy for screws. I have lost count of the number of screws I have had to replace because they are to short. Might just need a longer screw.

Re: SLIDE COMING APART !!!
Well I picked the Cat up today and they fixed the 2 problems and it looks good. Glad they got it done in time.
and now the bad part : I use a pullrite hitch, so I back up and hitch up pulled the landing gear up and began to move.
And then bomb as soon as I turned, my Cat slammed back about a foot, the hitch turned sideways.
I guess I should of paid more attention, they took the capture plate of the Cat when they moved it.
That scared the s**t out of me. Well I hope this is not what the weekend will be like! Have a safe holiday everyone...

This is exactly what happened to mine, but I had the correct capture plate. Did it damage your tailgate?

Re: SLIDE COMING APART !!!
Well no damage done thankfully.
Man this service department is very frustrating. I packed up to go home after my weekend was up and I pulled the slides in and the one they repair would not come in.
So I called my dealer and he said there is a manual crank between the axles ( I hung up the phone) and the crank was for the big slide. I called back and everyone in service went to lunch. Finally I was able to talk to someone and they said to me and I quote " We never worked on that style slide before so I don't know what to tell you and the problem you have is not related to the previous problem".
It was the same slide they worked on! I called coach net and forestriver 3 hour later a repair man came to help 3 hour 45 minutes forestriver returned my call. Everything said and done it was a wire that was pulled out of a harnest.

Re: SLIDE COMING APART !!!
Beginning to think FR doesn't have a quality control department. Just a bunch of salesmen who only know one thing - sell the product, do or promise whatever it takes.

Re: SLIDE COMING APART !!!
They probably have a QC department. But if it's like a place I once worked, QC comes under the Production Dept. Which renders it rather worthless.
