Kitchen Sink Drain

Post by HookMeUp on 6/19/2011, 12:38 pm

We have a composite kitchen sink in our cat and the drain fitting doesn't sit flush with the bottom inside of the sink. The drain in the sink has a recess with a squared off hole. The standard drain has bevel which causes it sit higher than the bottom of the sink so that the water doesn't completely drain out. Do they make a squared of drain basket?

Just so I'm clear, are you saying the fitting doesn't fit flush by design? Or it doesn't fit flush because of a screw up at the factory?

For the drain basket, I'd suggest finding a store specializing in plumbing supplies (not Home depot, or the like). If it's a specialty item, they'd know about it sooner than a warehouse supply store. Otherwise, do a google search for it if you can't find anything locally.

There is a post in this section titled "sealing sink drain" which I think discusses how to fix your problem.

I did a search for Sink Drain. See if that helps.

The sink drain is sealed and doesn't leak. The problem is that the drain basket doesn't sit flat with the inside bottom of the sink because the hole in the sink is flat instead of sloped like the profile of the drain basket. I am looking for a drain basket that will sit flat.
