Window Tint

Window Tint
When we bought our truck in OK in 2006, it had a very dark window tint. When we moved back to TX in 2007, the truck didn't pass inspection because of the tint. Scruffy took it to the Ford dealer next, and they passed it. So, he's been taking it there for inspections ever since. Last week it failed - because of the window tint. So, he had to remove the tint. We looked on-line to see how to remove the tint, then Scruffy did it his way, based on what he read. The tint came off relatively easily.
It's probably a good thing for us because Scruffy said he was having trouble seeing through the side windows at night. We'll miss the dark tint, though - we really liked the privacy. Now we're going to start putting window shades in the side windows when the truck is parked to keep some of the heat out.

In CA every window can be tinted except the the ones on the front doors and the windshield.

Re: Window Tint
The DARK tint is still on the back seat side windows and on the back window. We still have the factory tint on the windshield and front side windows. The dark tint was applied over the factory tint, which when combined was too dark to be legal.

Re: Window Tint
We liked the dark during the day - not so much after darkness set in.

Good for the heat. Wait a minute is it the heat or when this truck is rocking do not bother knocking.

Re: Window Tint
In Nebraska we are allowed 35% tint on the front side windows and 20% on the back.I have 20% all the way around, but we don't have to have our vehicles inspected. I would really miss that during day time driving.

Re: Window Tint
In NJ no tint from the driver's shoulder forward on side glass. Windshield you can't go below the line on the windshield, so it ends up tinting a 4-6" strip across the top. Now if you have a medical card(ie a person with a sun exposure problem), your vehicle can be exempt.

Re: Window Tint
Tater, On my last crew cab truck, I had the back glass and the backdoor windows tinted as dark as I could.
"wrong" I could not back up at night!!! The King Ranch has factory tint and I still have to open the slider to back up in the dark!!

We might have been able to keep our tint then. I'm very prone to skin cancer and have had several removed over the years. As I get older, we seem to keep finding more. That might be a legitimate reason.
Have to admit though, we CAN see much better at night. Sucks during the day though... but the better vision at night is more important.

I feel for you Tater, as I also suffer from the same sort of problem but on the inside of my body. So keep strong and fighting fit.

Re: Window Tint
Just had 35% put on the front 2 side windows last Friday. Much better than almost nothing from the factory. I'm told the rear side windows are 20% from the factory.
