WARNING !!!! If you have a wife who insists................
.....in taking everything in her home closet and put it in the CAT.............D-I-V-O-R-C-E is closeby !!!!
On this trip we just started last Saturday afternoon, and course none of the Obama stimulus money has been put into the road system along my route, namely I5 and US101.....well, lets put it this way............I cant even come up with the words to put together to describe what has happen.............got to our location this afternoon on the Oregon coast near Lincoln City, and wife went and opened the sliding closet doors and low and behold, the hanging bar has pretty much collapsed along with the shelf it is attached to...... I have just afew shirts on this bar, but she has so many clothes, not just 2 hangers per slot, but 4 !! With all that weight, and the bouncing around on the road, it pulled out the staples that WC has holding the 2x2 wood piece and bar together. So....good thing we'd planned on being here 2 days, so tomorrow I get to go to Ace hardware and get some screws and probably some angle brackets to brace it up, somehow.
Wish my luck on getting this thing up and braced, ha...

Been there! We can go camping in August and the DW brings enough clothes to prepare for a snow storm....

My wife will pack more for a weekend getaway than I pack in an entire season of camping.
You may have to buy a few 4x4's and 1/2" bolts to brace for all her clothes John!

Re: WARNING !!!! If you have a wife who insists................
We've had clothes fall off the bar because of bumpy roads, but I don't think the bar has fallen down. Nevertheless, Scruffy took the bar down and moved it back about an inch or so because it was installed too close to the doors, and the hangers kept getting caught. And, he did install it with longer screws. With your extra heavy load, you might want to put a couple 2x4s vertically on each end of the closet for more support.
BTW, we've fixed the clothes-falling-off, as well as the hanging-too-many-clothes problems. I'll see if I can find the message where I posted pics. In the meantime, if you click on the Picasa photo link in our signature, the pics are there, too.

Found it - sort of. Here is a link to how we keep clothes from falling off. Moving the rod back was done some time before this. But, the top picture shows the holes where the rod had been attached, and you can see how far back Scruffy moved the rod.

We have an actual bar for our closet. We did not move the bar back but that is a great idea we never thought of. What we did do is move the light in the middle back and added a hook. Our bar was bent slightly so all the closes slid to the middle. Screwed the hook into the wood until the bend in the bar was up. This helps keep the clothes against the wall and the weight off the middle. My wife use to do that with her clothes and her food. We use to have enough clothes and food to last a mouth when we went for a 5 day trip. Now if it was Caffeine free diet Dr Pepper and Budlight that is a different story

Re: WARNING !!!! If you have a wife who insists................
In my old 28RK the pantry sits atop the powercord storage area, at the very end of the unit on the drivers side. So we're driving south out of Dawson Creek and stop in Calgary for the night. I start to pull the powercord out and it gets stuck.
Seems as though there's a can of cat food tangled in the loops.
A trip to the hardware store, and several days of diddling around, and the pantry shelves are more than two sheets of thin wood stapled around the edges. There's actually a framework of wood under all that, now. Plus we don't load the shelves, or the reefer door either but that's another story involving what seems to be several gallons of superglue, until we park.

Dan,
Our old Prowlers had regular closet rods. That's where we started using a long piece of wood with tiebands. It kept things up where there were supposed to be. Our closets in both Prowlers were much smaller than the one in the Cat.

Her in doors puts so many clothes in the Cat when we go away and just adds to them all the time just in case we need them. Then of course comes the time when there are no clothes in the house, they are all in the Cat.

Were we just insulted? Scruffy drives very well, sometimes the roads are extremely bumpy.

Hey,,, do what I did and buy a one ton truck and 6k axles on your WC to compensate for the Wife's packing. Heck, my wife takes heavy coats in the middle of July when it is 110 degrees. "just in case".

You could always take your Platinum card along and let her buy her wardrobe as she goes. That way, she'll always be assured of looking like the locals. Before you move on to your next location, find a goodwill drop-off location and donate. Repeat.
When your vacation's over, spend the next 12 months paying for keeping her wardrobe to a minimum.
Remember, its never so bad but what it couldn't be worse.
