High Pitched Alarm Sound

High Pitched Alarm Sound
My Wildcast has been in storage this winter. Two weeks ago I reinstalled the batteries. Four days ago the manager on the RV Storage told me there was a high pitched alarm type sound coming from the trailer. I got to the trailer and could not hear any alarm sound anywhere. I checked the batteries and they were completely drained. Any ideas as to the cause? When I went into the trailer I check all the battery based alarms and they were fine. This is the second time I have found the batteries dead when I go to the trailer. I normally do not leave the batteries in when it is storage. Unfortunately there is no battery disconect switch. I have a 2010 31TS.

Smoke detector in the ceiling, batteries going dead or are now dead. Mine were dying on me a few months ago and the alarm was blasting away.... Or its your gas detector alarming now that your Wildcat batteries are dead.

Re: High Pitched Alarm Sound
My guess is the propane gas detector sounding because of the low battery.
The parasitic drain on the batteries from the radio, propane detector, tank sensors, etc., will run the batteries down in two weeks. When I leave the my trailer on the storage lot I disconnect the positive battery cable. When we get ready for a trip the first thing I do is reconnect the cable.

I agree with the propane detector, mine did it a month ago, but it was defective. I just disconnected it.

That's when I hear it. When I disconnect my batteries to take them inside for storage and trickle charging.

I took the fifth into the dealer this week and we checked the trailer and found no short. They called Forest River and said that the Propane detectors are required to be wired in and they will drain batteries. When the battery is drain to 9 volts the alarm with sound until the batteries go dead.

Re: High Pitched Alarm Sound
That happened to us. We put our trailer in storage, and went back a couple weeks later and the alarm was going off. We didn't have enough power to hook up. The storage lot was attached to a trailer dealer, and they let us use some sort of battery booster. Fortunately, the battery was new and it held the charge.

According to the experts unless you have solar or shore power the batteries should be disconnected from the trailer during storage.

For many of us, it's something we just learn by experience.
When our battery won't be in use for awhile, Scruffy takes the battery out and hooks it up to a trickle charge in the garage. That way it's always ready when we want to take the Cat out.

That is a good idea. Mine is charged in place by my 45 watt solar panel.

Thanks to the Military, some hard work, and some of my youth misadventures my back is heading south. Somebody else has to take and replace those golf cart batteries. Way beyond my pay grade. What a drag it is getting old.

Re: High Pitched Alarm Sound
When I put the kitty up for storage for the winter, I used to pull the fuses for the propane alarm and and the radio.
Now that I have the battery disconnect switch wired in I just turn the battery off.
In both cases, I also disconnect both propane tanks and make sure that the valves are tightly shut off and the tank female connections have those plastic plugs screwed in.
No problemo!
Hasta lavista, baybeeee!
I must have watched to many Terminator movies that week-end, but .......
I'll be baaack!

I have heard from someone that the Concertone likes to have power all the time. In cold weather especially. So my radio is wired to be hot all the time. To many terminator movies.

Yes, the Concertone is always on. Just like all those little LED lights that are on all our electronic stuff - they are always on, even when the appliance is off.
