Does anyone have a good campground in the Las Vegas Area?

Terrible's Lakeside RV Resort - Pahrump, NV. One of the best I've ever stayed at and a short drive to Vegas.

We stay at Sam's Town on Boulder Highway. Not a nice place to relax... but we don't spend much time there during the day. We are either visiting casinos or out enjoying the scenery. It's okay for a 2-3 night stay.
My brother stayed at Circus Circus campground - it's just a parking lot with hookups. I woudn't recommend it.
Somebody here has stayed at Oasis RV Park on the south end of the strip. The photos look great, and whoever it was said it was an excellent park.
There are some small parks on the road up Mount Charleston that looked nice. Very woodsy. Some might be hard to get into.... and I don't know what they had in the way of facilities.

Gerry and Kathy,
We've never been to Pahrump, but would like to go there someday. We'll definitely keep Terrible's in mind for a place to stay.

We stayed at Oasis Las Vegas for two nights in 2009. It was like a luxury hotel with concrete pads for the RV's. Plenty of room with all pull-thru's. Well developed RV resort on the southside of town, just off the strip. Very large and very well secured.

onetonford,
Here's a pix of the WC on the site at Oasis Las Vegas in September of 2009

The services were well located, the site was billiard table level, but hot, hot, hot .... even in the second week of September.
At least it was a dry heat .....

Oasis is a great place. Shuttle to down town. Good sites. My daughter got married at the MGM Grand and we stayed at the Oasis. Quick right and a quick left puts right on the strip. Close to shopping.. outlet mall close. Separate pool areas for adults and young kidlets. They use to keep the pool open for adults until around 12. We took advantage of that after the wedding.

Oasis is a nice place... From experience, I would recommend bringing something to insulate the windows that will get the afternoon sun. We had our 15k A/C going 24/7, as Schrowang says, hot, hot, hot. Make sure you bring a dash cover for your trucks dash. I don't think it got below 100 degrees on any of the seven days we were there in mid June.

Re: Las Vegas Camp grounds
We did a June trip - stayed at Sam's Town. We had one of the few sites that had shade, but we still got hit with the sun. We have reflectix (that silver stuff) cut to fit the windows, and with that inbetween the windows and shades we managed to keep the inside comfortable. It was like living in a dark cave though. Now we have the drapes that we could close in addition to the reflectix and shades. At Las Vegas, we are gone most of the day gambling, or seeing the sights (Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire, etc).

OneTonFord,
When you go to Las Vegas, we would highly recommend the trip to Hoover Dam. Go mid-week and there should be plenty of parking. I think it's one of the best tours in the U.S. Make sure to go into the dam itself and see the "hall of giants" and the penstock tubes. Outta sight, bro!
