VUCube antenna
We had always taken a Dish antenna with a tripod, and it worked ok, but often I had trouble leveling it. At a show in Quartzsite, I saw the VuCube, and since it leveled itself, and was more compact (took up less space), and was much faster to set up, we bought it. We have been to campgrounds where other fixed mount (on top of rvs) antenna's would not pick up the satellite because of obstructions. The VuCube is portable and only limited by the length of your coax cable. It normally takes about 3 minutes to set it up. It is another option to getting satellite reception.

Re: VUCube antenna
I been thinking hard about that, but I don't even have sat TV at home! Once I get it at home, I guess I will set things up so I can take the receiver with me.
Is that what you guys do? Use your home receiver in the cat?

Yes, just take your home receiver with you. It works great.

Re: VUCube antenna
You can take your home reciever with you. you have to get you a little tripod to mount the dish on. A good length of coax and take your sat box with you. Here where I'm at I've seen people with a mile long piece of Coax trying to find a signal because the trees block them out at the camp site.
Out where your at , its more open So you could probably do well with a short piece of Coax
But yea thats the least expensive way to do it.
one of those VuCubes are cool, but just the box with the dish inside of it will set you back 700 bucks.
If it weren't for Disney channel, and Speed channel I wouldn't even have Sat myself. I have Dish network, with the DVR. I'll swear by that thing that its the greatest invention since motorcycle tires...... You can record programs months in advance , just set a schedule and it will record it. I never miss a AMA SuperX or MotorX, or SuperBike race with the DVR. By the way Scottz , Aaron Yates #20 / Jordon Suzuki team, from here in Milledgeville,Ga is kicking butt to be a " privateer " with Michael jordon ...... Did you even know Mike had a SuperBike Race team ? Arron hasn't finished out of the top 2 this season on SuperStock, or out of the top 5 of SuperBike.... He used to race for yoshamira ? Suzuki factory team.....
Jordon Team : http://www.23race.com/

If I couldn't watch my racing when I got back home from camping , I'd

Re: VUCube antenna
I too take my Dish reciever. I bought a dish and tripod and keep it in the Cat. The reciever I have supports two tv's. It's quick to set up and get going. If I was camping I probably wouldn't take it but I use my Cat for work and being gone for a week or two I need to get my cable tv fix. Most campgrounds have crappy cable channels.

Re: VUCube antenna
When we ordered our Cat from RVW we had a satillite dome installed on the roof.
On our way back from Ohio we camped at Gettysburg for 2 nights
and with it being football season my husband couldnt miss a Monday night game.
The dome stunk, it was very hard to use. Ever since we have kept a tripod and dish and use that 90% of the time.
My husband found on the Directv site a storm recovery system that includes a dish a tripod and 100ft of coax (RG-6) for $50
its cheaper than the roof set up or what we paid for our tripod and extra dish.

Re: VUCube antenna
The tripod and antenna work, and they are inexpensive, but are not user friendly on uneven ground. We ran into some very high winds on our trip, and we saw tripods and antenna's blown over. Our VuCube did not move in the high winds. We did notice that campground cable (on average) was not very clear, when we used it for local weather channels.
We also like the DVR functions. It is nice to put the channel on hold, or go back if we missed hearing something that was said. We also prerecorded movies, just in case we wanted to watch something during a heavy storm, where satellite reception might be lost.
Technology changes so fast, who knows what we will be able to do in the near future.
Every day is a great day, with new challenges and new experiences.

Re: VUCube antenna
We also use the Dish network dish and Receiver, are dish is mounted on a brake rotor that has been painted. I got the rotor form my truck when I had a break job done. I have never had it blow over in a storm. When I take the time to set it up, The wife and kids love it. but we are camping not at home so we try not to watch to much tv. unless it is raining.
