Grey water level indicators accuracy
Has anyone checked the accuracy on their tank level monitors it seem on mine that when it says 3/4 full it acctually only has about 15gals in it I have fifty gallon tanks and I did a test on mine and like I said at 15gals it shows 3/4 full then I can still add about 30 more gallons before it shows full I guess Forest River never checks how they drill the holes for the level indicators to read somewhat accurate I know I could do better!
I'm going to check the rest so I know where I stand on the others. I know if I was dry camping it would of freaked me out to see the level at 3/4 full so soon. I mean my old Fivr was pretty close and when you got to 3/4 full it was time to find a drain.

Re: Grey water level indicators accuracy
They are not accurate. My black water hits full when it is about 2/3's full. Gray water fills up after it says full. The mod to the tanks is expensive but more accurate if U are really concerned about it.

HMM sounds like I will have to get some New probes and do some math and get it more accurate in the future. Another mod again but it will have to wait for now.

We don't pay a whole lot of attention to the guage. We can pretty much judge from experience when it's time to dump. We might be dumping more frequently than necessary, but we havn't overflowed ...... yet. We can get by very well for 3-5 days/nights without sewer hookups.... maybe longer, but we haven't tried it. It's just the two of us.

Re: Grey water level indicators accuracy
Fresh water tank should remain fairly accurate.
BUT...
If yur shower doesn't drain, yur bathroom grey tank is full.
If yur galley sink doesn't drain, yur galley grey tank is full.
If you flush and everything stays in the bowl, yur black tank is full.
Too much sludge, soap, TP, etc. to prevent accuracy.
Close only counts in grenades, horse shoes, and RV tank sensors.

I am not concerned about just was wondering if others were like this so from eveybodys answer I guess it is normal. To bad they actually got them pretty close on my old fiver but it was made by Four Winds.

Re: Grey water level indicators accuracy
The next time you go out for a few days, try waiting 2 days (4 showers) and see what the gauge says. Then next time try 3 days(6 showers), etc. From this, I know I can go 4 days without dumping if I have too. But, I dump every other day, just cause.....

Re: Grey water level indicators accuracy
Our freshwater and both grey tank gauges are fairly accurate. Black tank may show full before we even turn the pump on...
We go 5 or 6 days very often with just the two of us. We will run out of fresh water well before our grey tanks even get close. 56 gallons of fresh water vs 100 gallons of grey water and 50 gallons black tells the tale. We are well into our second tank of fresh water before I start worrying about dumping the grey.
The Cat having two 50 gallon grey water tanks was a big selling point for us since we most often camp without sewer/water hookups.

Well done TC. If u can see little floaties when U flush it is time to dump. Also I have hooked both gray tanks together so we have more capacity when we dry camp.

Re: Grey water level indicators accuracy
The black tank in the WildCat always says 2/3 full, even after it's emptied.
The gray water tank in the Challenger always says 2/3 full, even after it's emptied. It only has one for the kitchen and bathroom. Boy does it fill up fast, about two or three times the rate of the black at least.
The sink in the WildCat wouldn't drain, once upon a time, I dumped the tank. But I know the pipe doesn't leak.
Since we live in the Challenger from November until mid-April, and use the WildCat about 3 or 4 days out of the week from June through August, I just dump the tanks about every 4th day, seems to work out OK that way. I suppose I could be super efficient and say something like "I'll dump the tanks on Monday and Friday mornings."
You know looking at the previous paragraph I'm not sure why we own a house!

We normally go 7-9 days before dumping. We take naval submarine showers every morning and use store/restaurant facilities every chance we get.
