Awning Airwedge for Slideout
Hi Everyone,
Just curious for those that have the Airwedge if you have any tips for using this product. I tried mine lastnight and what a pain in the rear to get it centered under the slideout awning. I stuck the little flaps and tied the rope to each end. Then i thought it would help to extend the rope and tie a ball on the one end and throw it through to help me just get ahold of the string?? Wondering what you are doing and how you go about getting this in place. I also blew it up a little too much to slide it under the awning also so i learned that real quick. Once i get a new routine down with it i think it will work fine. Also need to carry a ladder with which i didn't do before. Thanks for any tips you may have. Mark

Re: Awning Airwedge for Slideout
In this blog somewhere are the pictures I posted of my airwedge and the mod I did to it. With the mod I did I do most of the inflating after I install it. It is a pain but it saves draining the slide. U put some air in it and slide it under the slide out. Then U get the awning wand and grab the rope on the other side. Pull it thru with the rope. In the near future U may need to use yellow snot (Weather stripping glue) to reattach the ropes. I always carrying a ladder. I will see if I can find my post.

Do you have a 12v pump? If I tried to blow that thing up myself, I'd get dizzy and fall off my ladder.

There is a plastic valve inside that needs to be punched. I carefully used a drill. Yellow snot and a brass valve stem works great. Apply liberal amounts of the snot, screw the valve stem in(will go in without taping), let it sit for 48 hours, and you are in business. Fill with an air chuck and when I get ready to go home I take chrome cap off, the guts of the valve stem out, pull out the air wedge, and let mother nature do the rest. Sry not to clear.

Oh, I think I understand now. You said you don't air them up all the way before you put them in. I'm thinking that means you don't add air after you have them installed?

No, I add more air after it is in place. I always over fill but this helps(???) U not to supposedly. Really easy with valve stem. I put in just enough air to make it cooperate before I install it. If you put in to much it is very difficult to install. I have a pancake AC that I take with me. Milk box with hose, air gun and tire gauge also go in the back of the truck.

Also have the awning wand on hand to help with the install.
