Air Conditioner/thermostat

Post by wohtex on 6/5/2011, 10:55 am

I have had my new Wildcat less than two weeks and we are sitting here and my wife asked me to turn down the thermostat, so I go over and look at it and it is set on 20 affraid (it is a Domestic Digital) I started pressing the + button and when it got to 32 the AC shut off so I moved it back down and it came back on, it seems to be cooling pretty normally for this hot Texas day but I can't understand the thermostat, from the little paperwork I received there doesn't seem like there is a section for it reading Celsius. Any ideas????

Maybe Sean can help you find the comfort zone in Celsius. There should be a button that switches it to Fahrenheit-but probably isn't. I just found this conversion site - http://www.wbuf.noaa.gov/tempfc.htm

Take the thermostat off and on the back is a switch for C or F. Make sure the breaker is off at your panel so you don't touch any wires in the back off the TX and short out your circiut board.

Thanks for the link Tater if it is in C mode I have adjusted it up for 75 degrees F. GustheUsher I will try your input tomorrow so if there is a problem at least the dealer will be open, I guess the breaker you are referring to is the AC breaker, I can't figure out how it switched modes, wife said she had set it for 76 degrees earlier. Appreciate the assistance.

Sounds to me that it is in °C mode as well.

OK folks, took thermostat off this morning no switch inside to change reading, called dealer they had no idea, called Domestic customer service and they said press the + & - buttons at the same time and it changes from Celsius to Fahrenheit, case solved filed away for future reference. Laughing

Glad you figured it out, mine has a switch on the back of the thermostat which I keep in fahrenheit instead of celsius, guess I'm old fashioned here in Canada.
