Re: Hwy 50
Fairly good road with few services......That's why they call it "the loneliest road in America", ha

Re: Hwy 50
I grew up on Hwy 50, 60 miles SE of Fallon, NV in a little mining community. Traveled it many, many times. Interesting but rather barren. Do not pass any gas stations, the next one is a long way off. Conner's pass SE of Ely is probably the worst, next to Austin Summit but going westerly from Delta it'll be a steep downgrade into Austin. Check out Lehman's Cave in Baker and the International Hotel and Stokes Castle in Austin. Enjoy your trip.

It's not bad except for the grade around Austin. Fill up in Fallon. You can travel 65-70 without issues on most parts of the highway. I pulled my old trailer along that route in 2003 (both ways).
The area you need to watch on Hwy 50 is between Fallon and Carson City. Don't drive this section at night as the drunks come out from hibernation. There's be a few head-on collisions involving alcohol, but they've been in early morning hours (2-5 am).
For the record, I just made the trip from Silver Springs and back today. It's fairly safe during the day only a couple of wackos trying to pass on the 2-lane section.
