slide-out hesitation

slide-out hesitation
We have a 2006 Wildcat 24rl fifth wheel. We just got it. When bringing the slide-out in, it comes so far, then hesitates, comes in some more then hesitates. Guy at the dealer says it's working and just has to work harder to pull it in than push it out. Any comment? Also, where the heck is the manual crank for the slide-out located? and am I right that this is a Lippert slide-out?

Re: slide-out hesitation
Rodger, I do not know about a 2006 Wildcat but I was having trouble with my slide-outs coming in. I have hydraulic slides but it was hesitating. It would sometimes stop. I would run around inside and out to make sure nothing was caught or jammed in the tracks - nothing. I would go back and the slide outs would continue. The dealer checked it out and the circuit breaker was too small (50 amps) and needed to be replaced with a 80 amp breaker. I would also check the slide tracks and make sure they are lubed,

Re: slide-out hesitation
Hello roger and fran and
to the forum.
Sounds like the problem with the slide out is the auto reset breaker. In the front compartment behind the battery there are some breakers, probably a 40 AMP which is for the slide out. This breaker gets hot and stops passing current, then resets itself and works for a short time, then goes again.
I know there are lots of posts about this issue here, I'll see if I can find a picture for you to see what I'm talking about.

Re: slide-out hesitation
Our slides hesitate sometimes. We don't worry about it because we've read explanations here in the forum. When it stops, I wait a second or two then push the switch again. It hasn't been a problem. One thing I make certain of, and I don't know if this affects the slides for not - I open the door whether putting the slide out or putting it in. A lot of air gets displaced in the sliding process. I like to unlatch the door, but not open it, and then bring the slides in - the door "automatically" opens about 10 inches. It doesn't take much to amuse me.

There is a list of Lippert slide-out manuals in the sticky in the top portion of this topic. If what you need isn't there, go to the Lippert website - they have a list of download-able manuals for your convenience.

Check out onetonford post. Look on page 6 of the manual. That is exactly how mine is.

We always have had the door open to listen to the person outside. Never thought of the air displacement before.

Re: slide-out hesitation
Depending on the model of the trailer, it could be anywhere from 300 to 375 cubic feet of air.

You crack me up sometimes Tater,,,, I've always left the door open. I think I read somebody blowing out a window before I went and picked mine up and that stuck in my head.
But now I'm gonna have to try Taters game.

If I want to get out of the Cat I just use the door handle and push the door open not the lazy way of using the slides to do it for you.
