370 Lakeside Park, St. Peters, Missouri

This park isn’t ready for prime time yet. I can’t give a true review of this park because it is still a work in progress. The park just opened on the 19th of May. This park is owned and operated by the city of St. Peters, MO parks department. The park is in a rural location of the city and yet it is just minutes away from major shopping areas. St. Peters is in St. Charles County which is part of the St. Louis Metropolitan area. 370 Lakeside park is conveniently located just off Hwy 370. It really is easy off, easy on the highway. I believe in the future this park will be major competition for Sundermeir RV park.
Our rig. The site numbers on the electric boxes were facing the wrong way.

There are 50 full hookup sites in the park and a 140 acre lake for fishing and boating. No outboard motors are allowed on the lake, only trolling motors. This is a city park along with being an RV park so there is traffic from citizens of the city passing through the campground. There was no control over who entered the campground portion of the park. I didn’t care for that.
The pads for the 50 sites are made from recycled crushed up roadway blacktop. This is not a good surface for heavy trailers and motor coaches. Blacktop can get somewhat soft in the heat of summer. On Sunday the temperature soared to 90 degrees and the blocks of wood my landing gear were on sank into the surface about a half an inch. The levelers on the motor coach next to me sank considerable more than that into the surface of their pad.
You can see how deep the leveling leg on the motorhome sank into the pad.

Each site had a picnic table and a fire pit and the spacing between the sites was just OK. WiFi did not work at the site, but I was able to connect to the Internet while sitting in my truck at the registration office. I was told that they would have wifi available at all the sites in a couple of weeks.
The park has a coin laundry with two washers and two dryers. There are only two showers in the shower house which I think is inadequate for the number of sites. There is no shade in the park and it will be years before the small trees that have been planted provide any. Of course this is a plus for those who use satellite dishes for their television source. Because of the close proximity to St. Louis, all major networks are available over-the-air. Cable TV is not offered and there are no future plans to do so.
There is a boat launching ramp and they do rent kayaks and boats at the park but the marina in not yet built. The proposed playground with swings, sand volleyball, and horseshoes is not yet built either. Personally I would have made a playground a priority for a city park. There is also a proposed primitive camping area that is not available yet and the hiking biking trail is not completed. The park does rent bicycles but without a trail why would one bother?
The park is pricey for what you get. Prices are 35 and 40 dollars a night for standard back-in and pull through sites to 40 and 45 dollars for the premium back-in and pull through sites. I think the cost is pricey for what you get however, these prices are cheaper than Sundermeir RV Park which is just 5 miles away. I think this will be a better park once all the bugs are ironed out of the system.

Sounds like it has possibilities. A few problems, but most can be fixed. We camp in a municipal park owned by the city of Grand Prairie, TX. There is a gate and a fee for picnicking, fishing, hiking or just driving through. That helps keep the locals from driving through. Right now 370 Lakeside is a novelty, I imagine the locals driving through will slack off after awhile.

Sites are way too close together! Looks like poop can spray onto you and your food at the picnic table a few feet from the other guy's sewer connection.

Too Close????? Heck, those are 3X the width as most here in Commiefornia, especially over along the central coast as they try to pack as many rigs in as possible. Nothing to see a awning almost touching the other rig next door. As far as the asphalt in hot temps, I agree, and would have been better if they had used DG instead or maybe some #3 base materials.

Compared to some of the places we've been, 370 Lakeside looks pretty good.
I prefer a place with lots of space. We don't mind too much if we are just stopping for the night - we usually don't cook outside for an overnighter. There would have to be some great things to do in the area for us to stay awhile.
A privacy fence between sites would help.

Re: Reviewed w/pics: A New Campground
One of the surprising aspects of this RV park was that each site had a fire ring. With the park being in a major metropolitan area that has air pollution issues, I was surprised that burning was allowed. We were the first ones to use the fire ring that was at our site.
From the 370 Lakeside park, it’s 9 highway miles to the Ameristar Casino, 13 highway miles to Harrah’s Casino, 16 highway miles to Lambert St. Louis International Airport, and 30 highway miles to downtown St. Louis and Busch Stadium. Once they get the bugs ironed out, I think this park will be a good option for those who want to visit St. Louis and perhaps watch a Cardinals game and see Albert Pujols.
Uh oh, that baseball is about to take a long ride into the left field stands.

Okay - the casinos got me. We would just be using our Cat to sleep in, and maybe have breakfast - maybe - if someplace around there has good biscuits and gravy, why mess up the trailer.
