Support for wiring to main slide
Anyone have a better idea for a support for the wiring to the main slide? Mine broke again at the outboard end where the screws hold the support in place. I was thinking about making an "L" bracket and attaching the remaining support to the "L" bracket. Appreciate any help or thoughts. Thank You!!

I think I know what your talking about, mine broke too. I drilled 2 holes in the plastic strip and zip tied it to the support.

Many of us have removed the plastic strip after it broke and installed a galvanized metal hinge that we zip-tie the wire to. There are pix on here someplace of the mod.

Thanks Guys!! The hinge idea looks like a good fix, I'll give it a try. The coiled wire looks good too but I think I'll try the hinge first. I really need to learn how to get pictures into my message. Sure would help everyone. Thanks again!

I did the Hinge fix last fall. It was pretty simple project.

Thanks Frank. Didn't I meet you at Roamer's Retreat last year? I think I looked at the fix your dealer installed to keep water out of your slide (main slide) while driving. How is that fix working? I think he installed the rubber garage door seal so it covered the opening where the slide meets the frame. Good to hear from you. I'll get on the support fix as soon as it cools alittle. Duke!

Re: Support for wiring to main slide
Thanks everyone!! I just fixed my broken strap for the main slide. I used a door hasp instead of the hinge. The hasp is about the same width as the strap might be 1-1/2 inches. Then I put electrical tape around the hasp to insulate it. Guess I didn't need to do that, the wiring harness already has a plactic cable guide. Anyhow, thanks for the idea guys!! That was an easy fix..

A little extra insulation is probably a good idea. If the metal hasp rubs against the plastic cable guide, it might cut through.

I bought a 5 wire "yellow coiled" hitch to trailer wire from Camping World. I hooked this to the camper and to the slide. When the slide goes out it stretches and re-coils when closed...works perfect and looks factory.

Hello 5erfamily, looks like we are neighbors. We live in Finksburg, MD. Do you have a part number or a picture? If this hinge doesn't work I might give that a try next. Thanks!! Duke

We'd like to see a picture of that, too. Our current fix seems to be holding up well.

Just remember that over time that cord does loose it's abilty to retract. I had one on the old fifth wheel hitch cord and after a few years it was almost straight. They had a video on hows it's made they mold a coiled cord and then twist it in the Opposite direction to make it more springy.

Re: Support for wiring to main slide
As soon as i pick my camper up from storage i will post pics for you. i left the original plugs on each end of the coiled wire. I went to Walmart and bought the female ends of a trailer wiring kit. I attached one female end to the slide and i female end to the camper. I then plugged each end of the coiled wire to each plug, put the slide out and it stretches then fully retracts when in. Now if i have another blowout or the wire does loose its spring over time,i just by a new wire and plug it in.
