A New Campground

A New Campground
My wife and I are retired so normally we don’t take our fifth wheel camping on holiday weekends. We prefer to leave the madness and the mayhem of the holidays to the working class. This weekend is going to be an exception. We’re taking our trailer to a new campground that just opened last week. Not too many people know about this new campground yet so it shouldn’t be too crowded. I was able to make reservations Tuesday for this coming holiday weekend.
I’ll be writing a review of the campground unless the park turns out to be better than I expect, in that case I might not tell anyone about it.

Please tell us about it. We promise we won't go there unless we check with you first.

Re: A New Campground
Richard,
How right you are. Holiday week-ends at Asheville East KOA were a madhouse. Every slot filled, every cabin and lodge occupied. The big four are Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. On Friday evenings between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. we had them lined up on the entrance road and almost out on US-70 trying to get them registered and parked. The gals in the office used to go crazy. Woodshed and propane tank (1,000 gal.) filled to the brim on Friday afternoon; both were empty by Monday morning. What a circus. But that's what being a workamper was all about. You had to enjoy the circus to survive.

Re: A New Campground
If the new park turns out to be as nice as I hope, I will tell my fellow Wildcat owners…no one else though. The park is only 40 miles from my house so I will probably use the campground for winterizing the trailer every year.
The park isn’t completely finished yet but it does have a 140 acre lake with a small marina. Boats are allowed on the lake but only with trolling motors. I will be taking a lot of photos so you can be sure I will post a few when we get back.
My original plan was to check out the park early this week but the weather has been horrendous here in Missouri so this weekend will be the first chance we get to look at the campground.
