Hot Water tank wont light on LP
Spring is finally here and getting ready for our 1st outting. Everything is good except the hot water tank will not ignite on LP gas. SO heres where I am at ( and need some help ).
1. Checked the spark good and blue.
2. Cracked the incoming gas line a little bit on the feed side, can hear gas hissing out so it's getting gas to the valve. And can clearly smell it.
3. When trying to light the igniter is sparking away nicely, theres 2 little round black things at the valve ( which I already confirmed is getting gas at the feed side ) with 4 wires 2 are ground and 2 are power, took at meter and obviously no reading on the ground side but had 14 volts on both feed wires and you can hear the valve actuate just before it starts sparking which Im thinking is opening the valve for gas to pass thru, but the problem is no gas comes thru so there no gas to ignite??
4. I also remove the tube which is nice and clean.
So I just cant figure out why gas wont pass thru . Unless the actuator is functioning but theres a bunch of crap in the valve itself not allowing gas to pass thru????
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Also HAPPY CAMPING . I cant wait to go unfortunatly where going to a spot with no power so relying on gas.

Probably should add that the Fridge, furnace , burners and oven work great on the gas. Thanks again

Will the burners on the stove light?

We bought a used gas dryer years ago (when we were poor newlyweds) for our home. It wouldn't light. Scruffy finally found a spider nest in it somewhere. Gas couldn't get through. Could be anything in there blocking it.

So I took it one step further and unplugged one of the 14 volt wires on the valve solenoid and it still snapped like it was working, plugged it back in and unplugged the second 14 volt wire and bingo it didnt work. Change the valve and works like a dream. All set to go now.
