Batteries, again

Post by ribbs65 on Sat May 21, 2011 6:05 am

Has anyone used either Costco or Diehard Group 27 deep cycle batteries in the Cat? Is there much of a difference, except price, between those and Interstate batteries?

Diehard used to be made by Interstate, and may still be. I have used both and have personally had better success with Interstate, both in longivity and warranty. I don't know about Costco.

If you can afford it, go with Trojan AGM's you'll get twice the life out of them. I bought 2-12v 27 group AGM's they will power my cat for week without recharging. A local dealer here in Corpus has them for $139 each. There should be a dealer near you in Californa.

Interstate is it's own battery company and Diehard's are made by Excide, at least 8 years ago that was true. Excide is very large and makes most batteries on the market. They also make AC Delco batteries. But I've been out of the field for 8 years now, so things could of changed.

I put in two Costco group 27 batteries when I bought the FW new last year. So far, so good and I have lots of reserve power.

As far as the Costco batteries go in general I have used Costco group 24's for many years in previous RV's and never had a problem.
