Tires, Tires, Tyres
Getting itchy to make another trip. After a blowout in Houston, Tx had been looking at tires. Current tires are Duro's. Seems like every time I make up my mine what tires to get I read something negative about them that changes my mine (which is not very hard to do). It was either going to be Maxxis or Goodyear Marathon, preferable Goodyear Marathon. Well I went to the Goodyear today and he pulled one out. Recently made but guess what? Stamped :MADE IN CHINA. He said that they are built to USA standards. I have thought about going to 16 inch rims (more expense and I have nice 15 inch chrome rims) but would rather not because of clearance but the East Coast models come with 16 inch rims. I have come to the conclusion that you can not buy a make in America ST22575R15D tire. I think it is a shame. Thoughts of comments please.

I have Goodyear Marathons on my Montana, they are the 16" and yes, thay are also stamped MADE IN CHINA. We've towed 3100 miles with them so far with no problems.
Our Wildcat had Power Kings(18K miles) on it for 4 years, then they were replaced with Greenball TowMaster tires in 15" E rated from Costco. I cant comment on hte Towmasters caue they had 168 miles on them when we traded for the Montana.
YES, all were stamped made in china.

Ole Yella - Try these tires. They are made in America according to JACANDJAN. Click on the link below for further info.

Just put a set of Maxxis on my Cat. Good price and the reviews were all positive.

I know it's an old post, but after a couple of blowouts with "D" Rated tires, I upgraded to the 15" E rated tires and went with Maxxis. I also run Nitrogen in them, which makes them run a lot cooler. To boot, I put these tires on the camper June of 2010 and haven't had to add air to them yet.

I put a set of Maxxis tires on my old trailer before this one. Size ST22575R15E, ran them for 4 years and never had a problem with them. In fact I very seldom had to put air in them. I little expensive but I think they worth the extra cost. When the current tires need replacing I will get Maxxis tires for it also.

Re: Tires, Tires, Tyres
I had a blowout, a year, ago. After the repairs of the damage, I did my Spring bearing packing party. I discovered the cause of the blowout.... the brake did not release from last application. The brake shoes were paper thin, and the other 3 were about 25% worn. Changed brake assembly.
FYI- Always check tires for abnormal wear. Trailer manufacturers, I hear, never check alignment...just run the finished product out the door.
My theory concerning a high percentage of blowouts- look at your trailer tires as you are manuvering into a campsite. You will see the tires twisting in opposite directions as you back in. The more stress you put on the tread, the more likely the tire tread will be damaged, and fail, while in the road.
