Brakes quit working
My first post. Be gentle. We had the wheel bearings repacked on our 2006 29RLBS fifth wheel. Upon pulling into the repair shop, the brakes worked very well, as they always did. When we left the (well known) truck repair shop, the brakes stopped working. We returned to the shop and (over the next two days) the problem was never found. The repair shop said they did nothing to affect the brakes. They even removed one hub to check their work. Assuming a huge failure coincidence, we had a new brake controller installed, replaced the 7 wire recepticle in the F250, replaced the 7 wire cable to the RV. With the new controller in full manual (slide left) operation, the brakes just barely activated. They were adjusted twice (correctly??) When the emergency clip is removed, the brakes lock up as they are supposed to. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Brakes quit working
Be sure you're unplugging your 7-way before pulling the break-away as some controllers can be damaged.
Could be brake adjustment, grease on the drums and or on the magnets.
How far did you drive from the shop before they failed?
Are you adjusting the gain on the controller? Some brake controllers gain will also effect the manual setting.

Re: Brakes quit working
Check the wire at the magnets to see what voltage you are getting or not getting then go to your plugs

I've read that a quick check to see if the magnets are working is to out a compass at the bottom if the rim where the magnet is and have someone put their foot on the brake, this should set the compass arm in a fit if then magnet is working.
