Stove Mod
This is a mod I did because my wife has carrpel tunnel sydrome and has a hard time lighting stove burners.

So now all she does is push and it sure is alot quieter and she will never hear me heating a snack after dinner.

Re: Stove Mod
Very nice mod, it looks like something I would like to do also, I hate trying to get the burners to lite by twisting the knob, it makes way to much noise

Re: Stove Mod
I show it in one pict it goes into the knob it runs on a double AA 1.1/5 volts and the one in my barbque last for years just need to change it about once a year and that keeps it from corroding the unit.Scruffy and Tater wrote:Great idea. How is this powered? Battery?

I like this mod.,And great pics always help.
Did you have to wire all three igniter wires together,or was there a place for them on the new igniter.

The new Igniter I bought from wal-Mart has three connectors I found 1 at homedepot theirs had four depending on how many you use you have to ground the other ones not used.

Re: Stove Mod
I had thought about this mod for a long time because of the one in the house is 110v but I wanted one that would work in the camper one day while I was shopping in Wal-Mart I saw this kit and my brain went into overdrive
alot of measuring and finally I decided to go and get the kit and give it a try took about 1 hour to install taking the pic took awhile to figure which ones to keep and post. I've got alot of time right now so I do small projects that won't hurt my shoulder and I do them. This is what I enjoy always been a tinkerer and always do what I can to keep busy I can't wait to get back to work in June.

Re: Stove Mod
I found this similar mod on RV.net forum too. He did a four wire and connected the 4th to the oven.
This is a nice mod. I think I will do as well. DW isn't crazy about lighting the oven.

I thought about that but since it has a standing pilot it really doesn't matter since I usually light it when I set up my fiver.

Re: Stove Mod
Nice! Wish I'd thought of that years ago. As it is we use "non-kiddie proof" fireplace/bbq lighters, much quieter than the still operating backup factory piece of crud. One for the WC up here and one for the Challenger down in AZ. We find the lighters in the flea markets, usually in the past for $1 each, and buy them 2 or 3 at a time.

Re: Stove Mod
Probably cost the same as lighters, I replace the battery a couple times each year in our gas grill at home.

Re: Stove Mod
onetonford, on the washer you made, is it a metal washer painted black or did you stamp one out of a black plastic sheet? Oh and this is a very cool mod by the way.

Questions if I may kind sir. Never saw a punch like that before. Need to go looking for them.
Anyway I have the same question about the washer. Size, metal, plastic, ect ect. Surprised you have to put it behind the knob U screw on.

Re: Stove Mod
It was a Stainless Steel washer painted black it was the only one I had that was about the right thickness. I had thought of using plastic just couldn't find a piece that was the right color.c04678 wrote:onetonford, on the washer you made, is it a metal washer painted black or did you stamp one out of a black plastic sheet? They are made by Greene Lee very expensive. If you use a hole saw you can mount a piece of material behind the panel using the two holes to hold it that way you can center the hole saw with it.

Actually it's in behind the nut that holds the unit in place It took me awhile to figure out why when you tighen down the knob it would cause the igniter to come on so I came up with the washer it also covers the to mounting holes that were for the original unit.
