Broken Bed Frame

Broken Bed Frame
Got the Cat home tonight to start getting it ready for spring. We had pick this up new in February and at that time just bought it home for a few days and then straight to the storage lot. Wife went to make up the bed and noticed the plywood under the mattress was crooked. So I took the mattress off and sure enough its pulled away from the front wall. There is a cross tie that is alos broken. I could take it back to the dealer for warranty but I would end up with the same thing. I think I will rebuild the bed frame. I believe it broke because of the gas struts that are on the bed. I guess I should get to my question, what is in the front wall for support. Is it wood or aluminum?

Re: Broken Bed Frame
From everything I've read and seen in the brochures, the front, rear, floor, and roof are wood framed. Sidewalls and slideouts are aluminum framed.

Re: Broken Bed Frame
The only problem we've had with our bed is that one day I started to lift it to get something out or put something in and I couldn't. It was difficult for Scruffy too, but he was able to get it open. Both struts had come loose. He refastened them, and it's been fine ever since.

Front, back, sides, and slides are aluminum on mine. Wish the roof was. The only problem I have with my bed is the mattress fight I have to get under it. But then I find a ram that takes up most of my storage.

Re: Broken Bed Frame
The plywood on my bed was broken from day 1. I didn't notice until I constantly rolled to the center of the bed. I glued and screwed a 2x4 flat across the width of the bed. It's done the trick. I also had to relocate the lift strut support brackets because they wouldn't hold up the bed to access the storage. This was 5 years ago....

Re: Broken Bed Frame
One of the lift struts also came loose on our unit. The installers must have been distracted and only put one or two screws in the base support.
It was a simple and easy fix though. No problems since.
