Another stroke...

Post by TC on 4/30/2011, 6:13 am

Well gang, I'm in the hospital after suffering another stroke. Completely numb clear up the left side even though I haven't lost function nor strength. Symptoms continue to appear as the weekend progresses.

Please remember me and my family when you talk to God today...greatly appreciated!!

Just sitting here hooked up to everything waiting for nothing to happen. That's the trouble with hitting a hospital on the weekend; You deal with all the second stringers and on-calls who would prefer to defer until a normal workday. All preliminary tests have been run, but nobody to read them or report them to me. Symptoms got scary early this afternoon, but have since kinda backed off. I'm really hoping the worst is behind me, but don't know for sure yet.

TC, the best medicine is prayer. You have many people including me that are praying for you. God has a plan for all of us, and sometimes he gives us a wake up call to get our attention.
Get well soon, we need your input on this forum.

Re: Another stroke...

Well, the stroke symptoms continue to subside, but the the news I got this morning wasn't good. In the process of testing to find out where the clots are comng from still, they've seen something that might indicate that the procedure they used to close a hole in my heart in 08 may not have been successful after all and could possibly still be allowing clots to cross over from one side of my heart to the other and directly to the brain. On top of that, they've also found what's called a dilated aortic root (pre-anuerysm). So this whole thing is starting to go in an entirely different direction now. Obviously, this is not over yet.

TC,
Maybe it's a good thing you had this stroke. Now that they've found all this other stuff, they can get to work fixing it.

Tater, that's kind'a what we're thinking. Doesn't exactly make me want to go out and chase rainbows though.

I've been reading up on that dilated aortic root thing (like I have anything else to do) and I know that MAJOR surgery is in store for me eventually.

I shouldn't be all that surprised though, my mother's sister and brother both died of brain aneurysms and my mother's father had an aortic aneurysm very much like this but much larger, but its not what did him in. So, it definitely runs in the family.

Bottom line is, I should be extremely thankful that they found it in the early stages so they can do something about it before the alternative happens.
