What variety are those? I've never seen anything like them. Ever since I learned that athletes foot was fungus, I haven't been able to eat mushrooms.

Those are Morel Mushrooms BobnPi.We like to bread them in a 50/50 mix of flour and cornmeal and deep fry.Very good IMHO.

Re: Tasty Morsels
Yum!!!!!
With all the warm weather we've had here lately, they should be popping most any time.
I try to get out every year. But lately, I haven't had too much luck. A few years back, the conditions were so good, they were practically growing on top of each other. However, in recent years, some of my river bottom spots have been washed away by floods. I stay mainly to the hills any more.
Happy hunting.

Re: Tasty Morsels
When I was very young, my Dad used to take me out to my Granpa's woods to hunt for mushrooms. Hunting mushrooms was boring for a little girl, so I mostly played. I wasn't crazy about mushrooms then, even when my brother told me they were frog legs, or maybe because he told me they were frog legs. Anyway, I love mushrooms now.

All the moisture we're having around here right now plus what's forecast for the next ten days, should make 'em pop.
