Another Wonderful Idea

Post by Portagie1968 on 4/13/2011, 8:08 am

Are wicked kitty has a long counter top and cabinet (I hope it is that and not the studs in the wall coming lose) located on the wall next to the entrance door. Our trailer is a larger floorplan of Scruffy and Taters. For a long time the area were they rub together has snap, crackled and pop. They just do not like the twisting that is done to the trailer when U come up the steps. And they complain about long after U get into the trailer. The longer U stay the more they complain. About 2 years ago I met 2 couples who always support there stairs. When the stairs are out they are support by what they made. Well I finally made mine. Stairs wobble a tad and a door wedge will cure that real fast but the noise in the trailer is 99 percent gone. cheers Attached are the pictures below.

I use the short stabilizers. The bolts in the upper left are my safety pins. Yes those are my shoes.

Here is how I modified the stabilizers to fit. Both are used so U have to modify them both but cutting a piece off each side. Total with is 2 1/2 inches. 1 1/4 inches from the hole.

All the pieces needed are assembled and are ready to be installed.

Here they are installed. The threaded part slips out while U hold the body up tight against the stairs, then U adjust the nut until it just meets the body (need to be done this way before adjustment), stick the safety bolt in the hole, and then I take the rod and give both sides 1 1/2 to 2 turns. Adjust from there if need.

This is what it looks like under the top stairs. Not to straight. Try to do a better job next time. Next project adding another water pump switch to the Wicked Kitty or was that updating the solar.

When I get ready to leave it all stores in my passtru or I can throw them in the truck bed.

Nice mod. Did you pick up the jacks at a dealer or somewhere like Harbor Freight? At first glance, I thought you replaced the round foot with one retangular. Then I realized you just cut off the sides. Hacksaw or something easier?

Modified the post to include the width of the rectangular piece. Got those at Camping World. Jig saw with an all purpose blade. Can get U the number if U needed it.

It would help if you weren't lugging a huge cooler full of ice cold beer up the steps with you. I'm just sayin'...
