Vinyl flooring coming up.

Post by carryin' the mail on 4/8/2011, 3:37 pm

The vinyl flooring is starting to lift along the carpet in front of the slider. Is there any way to possibly get some sort of adhesive under there to stick it back down, or any other suggestions on how to fix. Thanks! scratch

Could you post a few pictures of the area to show just how much lino you're talking about.

Tried to take pic but it doesn't show up very well. The section is about 8 in. wide and about 6 ft. long. right next to the carpet. If it was simply curling up on an edge, easy fix, but this is like a long blister. Does anyone know if the vinyl flooring covers the width of the trailer, or does it end just beyond the carpet. If it ends just beyond the carpet, I was thinking on lifting the carpet strip and trying to get access to the edge of the vinyl there. My other thought was to slice the vinyl on the grout line and re-glue that way....this I hesitate on doing.

Does the area have any discoloration, it sounds as if something else is going on to cause this.

If your sure it is just an area of loose vinyl, cutting it along the grout line is actually a good way to fix it. Be careful not to stretch the material or it will not lay or seal correctly. Once it is secured and flat you can use seam sealer for vinyl flooring, this will seal the seam and make it water tight, almost like new.

If it is curling, you may need to reglue it and use a heat gun carefully to soften the material. Then roll it or push it down till it cools and sticks.
