Ladder or not?

Ladder or not?
Do you take a ladder with you when travelling? If so how tall and where do you keep it? Is it just something else to load up and unload when trip is over, or do you really feel there is a need for it. I just do not have room in the basement. I also have toppers.

I would not travel without a ladder. I carry a 6 ft slim folding ladder even though I do not use it on every trip I think one of myself neighbor campers borrow it for some reason. I made a rack for it using 1/2 inch galvanized pipe and base plates mounted in the top of the basement compartment. I also store a broom, folding leaf rake, long handle brush, and the rod for opening and closing the awning in the same rack. The rack keeps all those items up and out of the way. Jim

Re: Ladder or not?
We don't travel with a ladder. Once or twice we would have liked having one, but we managed without.
There is a ladder (expensive) that telescopes down in size that doesn't take a lot of space. I doubt if we would even have space for that one, though.

Re: Ladder or not?
Like S&T we have never carried a Ladder on any trip.
I've spent the majority of my life on a ladder, scissor lift or bucket truck. I'm absolutely not taking one with me on vacation.
Seriously; I've only felt the need for a ladder once or twice but always found a way to get the job done without it. Murphy says at some point in time I'll wish I had one, but I'm still not carrying one.

If you are in the same campground that we are in, you can borrow my ladder anytime. Happy Travels Jim

I don't carry a ladder either. I use the trailer's ladder. I climb up and use a broom to sweep off the slide if needed before putting it in when breaking camp. This is only during the fall when leaves are dropping or if I get parked by a nut tree.

No ladder here. We've moved the picnic table to stand on top of once or twice in the fall to sweep some leaves off the slides before closing. Haven't said "boy, wish I had a ladder" yet...knock on wood.

I am thinking of adding a small ladder to the under side of the Cat, just in case I need to carry out any work when I am away from home.

I carry this ladder because I can stuff it in the rear bumper of the cat.I really don't use it very much, the DW cleans the windows on the cat now and then when we are camping.I think the folks in the camp ground have used it more than me.

I too have this ladder and carry it along the front of the storage compartment. I don't need it often but have been glad i had it a couple of times. I like your idea of carrying it in the back bumper !!

I carry a ladder. Actually use it quite a bit. Our unit has alot of storage so it's not a issue on space.

Re: Ladder or not?
I held off carrying a ladder as long as I could, but started carrying it when I made my pvc awning frame to keep the rain off. I wouldnn't leave home without it now. Pretty simple to just strap it to the rear camper ladder with some bungee cords.
5' light weight alum ladder. You can have it on or off in a minutes time.

I carry a 6' aluminum ladder. It is strapped tightly to a rack that attaches to the ladder on the rear of the camper. I wouldn't travel without it.

I also carry an aluminum ladder strapped to the camper ladder. I have not had to use it yet and I figure if I left it at home, that is when I would really need it.

I just purchased the 7 foot double sided version of this ladder. I can stand on the secons step from the top and easily reach the high point of my WC. I plan to install a holder on the underside of the frame to hold this ladder. Right now it is in my basement.

Re: Ladder or not?
That's quite a ladder. I wondered how it could fit inside a bumper, and because of our sometimes slow internet, couldn't open the link. Finally got the page to open. Pressed my luck and was able to look at the 7ft double sided ladder, too. Will this fit inside the bumper? Would this fit inside the bumper?
I like the looks of this one better than the telescoping one - weighs less, too, I think.

Tater,
I have not checked if it will fit inside the bumper; may do that. I'm guessing it's too big.

Re: Ladder or not?
Bought a bike carried from Camping World. Hang that from the WC ladder and hang my 6ft Aluminum ladder from that. Bungy cord the bottom to the ladder. Need it when I put out the awning.
