Slide Topper Question
I am planning on installing two slide toppers. After a little research I found that the Carefree uses 11 ounce material and the A&E uses 12 ounce so the A&E is my choice. I called my local Camping World to get them ordered but also asked the advice of the service advisor. I was told to save some money and buy the A&E Deluxe (not the more expensive A&E Elite) because although the Elite has a metal weathershield which protects the fabric from UV rays and dirt when closed, they get many complaints from customers. They say the complaints are based on the fact that the metal weathershield is heavy and weighs down the fabric when extended.
Whereas the Deluxe leaves the fabric straight, puts less strain on the fabric and is more asthetically pleasing.

What are your thoughts? My personal preference had been the Elite but I'm left wondering now.
thanks, Kim

Re: Slide Topper Question
I bought the Elite and love the way it rolls up and covers the awning. I does not appear to effect the way it operates when out. It was $30.00 more and well worth the money. Jack

Re: Slide Topper Question
I wish I had the "metal covers"! Would rather have the awning protected the majority of the time (when its rolled up) than worry about it looking weighed down when extended. Just my 2 cents...

Re: Slide Topper Question
Hi Kim,
I can't comment on the Slide Awning yet as far as which is better but we decided to go with the Elites also. We will have them installed by Camping World in 3 weeks.

Anybody take a look at the girard. I wonder if it will fit on a Trailer.
