Camco Olympian 5500 grill

Post by Wight on 3/15/2011, 12:17 pm

Anyone have one of these? We were thinking of purchasing one with the RV mount. I was worried if it put off to much heat. Don't want to damage the wildcat.

I don't know about mounting along the side of the trailer, but it looks like a very nice BBQ..

I'd be worried about the heat and the grease on the side wall.

Not sure of this one, but I had a smaller Olympian. Hated it. Regulator was bad from the get-go. On low, burn everything. On high, wouldn't cook. It was like it had a mind of it's own. Contacted factory, no help. Finally "gave it away" in a garage sale.
The idea of cooking outside is to not "grease up" the kitchen. Cooking beside your rig "greases up" the side of the rig. Just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't just because of the fire danger potential.

Burn up the campground picnic table before your camper. thumbUp

lol! I always sit my grill on the picnic table. Never thought your way about it though. I'm too lazy to dig out the grill cart and unfold it and such.

Went this route instead. Much more bang for your buck. Will fit in the 5er's under storage also.

That is nice. Would have to tie it to my bumper. No space left.

Regarding fire. Trailers and motorhomes go up in a flash! Saw one burning on the side of a highway in Florida once - nothing but some twisted framework left. Was a motorhome, I think.
