Factory Black Tank Flush Upgade/Mod
Last fall I removed the factory backflow preventer from inside the wall between the bedroom and bathroom. If you look at the pic, I circled where the pex tubing went up through the basement ceiling to the backflow preventer and back down to the basement through a second hole and than onto the black tank nozzle. I cut the pex tubing and removed it and than installed a new city water inlet with a built in backflow preventer and used a 90 quick connect to connect the new inlet to the existing pex tubing.
I did this because the factory backflow preventer is crap and it leaked. Also my black flush inlet was plastic and it leaked and flooded my basement. I removed all the cheap junk. No more leaks! I use compressed air to blow out the black flush system when winterizing.
I'm going to use the empty holes to run inverter wiring to the bedroom tv outet and feed a 120v basement outlet that I'll install in the future.

I did the same; removed the factory junk back flow device, pulled the tubing back into the basment and installed a new device attached to the ceiling of the basement.

Really cool. Wondering were you got the 90 degree fitting . Never have seen one like that. Never have seen the red tubing either.

The red pex is for hot water and blue for cold. Don't know why they used red for the flusher. Forest River installed both colors. The 90 is a re-useable connector for pex. They also make them for copper and CPVC. I've used Gator brand from Lowes in my house on copper and CPVC and they work great. Some of them require a tool to remove while some only need your fingers.

Learn something every day. Thanks Earl. Maybe we have been cleaning our black tank wrong all these years. Since they use red maybe we are suppose to use hot water.

I was wondering why they do not use the city water fitting at the factory. Would be easier to begin with. There is a label there.

I am so thankful my 2006 30RBLS is not made that way. Just checked mine out and it never enters the BR. Runs completely across the pass through to the the other side and straight down into the black tank. The BFP is screwed right into the hose that comes off the hose bib.
