A few Wildcat questiong?
Hello Everyone,
And thanks for all replys. I am taking delivery of a new Wildcat 27rls in a few days and I have a couple of questions. I took the manual home with me but it doesn't cover these areas. First, is the roof a walk on roof or do I need to use boards on the roof to walk up there? The trailer didn't come with a ladder. Also can I manually crank in the slideout if it ever fails? The tankless water heater is new to me also, but I think we will like it for most of our camping. I'm guessing its LP gas only, and prolly doesn't have a bypass for winterizing the trailer? I'll go over all of this with my dealer in a few days but I would be nice to get other input also.
Thanks for your time,
James

Re: A few Wildcat questiong?
Welcome James! Congrats on your new Wildcat.
I walk on my roof with no problems. I am a big guy, just don't jump around up there.
I don't know if your slide system is mechanical or hydraulic. Either way, there is a manual option.
I think you may be the first one here to actually own the tankless water heater. It is LP gas only, something some of us don't care for. Looking forward to your opinions.

Besure to down load the delivery checklist from this forum to use during your delivery inspection. Also take your time and turn on every light, fan and faucet also light the burners and oven to see they all work correctly. My wife and I drive the dealer crazy when taking delivery but have found problems to be corrected before the rig left his lot. Happy Travels. Jim

Welcome to the forum.
The roof should be a "walk-on" roof and there should be a sticker on the hydraulic pump head (if your slide is hydraulic) showing you where you could insert a 1/4" hex-bit to operate the slide.

Re: A few Wildcat questiong?
Thanks for the info Everyone,
I just took delivery on the trailer today, everything works great and the only thing that I've seen so far is lots of sawdust in the heater vents, anyways the wife really loves the trailer! Well she picked it out.. lol.
I don't have the tankless water heater, it is 6 gal gas/elect water heater, I'm happy with that. I just read somewhere on the internet that all the new 2011 Wildcats was tankless.
The only thing I havn't figured out yet is how to manualy close the slide out if it has problems. The manual that I have says to pull off the sticker (where ever that is) and run it in or out with a drill. I'm not even sure it is hyd, but I can see what looks like a one hyd cylinder and two rack and pinion rails under the slide. I'm pretty sure the rails are to keep it moving straight and the cylinder is to push it in and out. The cylinder goes through the frame rail and and the only way to see the motor or gearbox or what runs it is to pull the pull off the covering on the bottom of the trailer.
Ok, I do see what might be a place to use a crank on the other side of the trailer behind the door steps. That is in line with the slide-out cylinder. Does anyone have any more info if this is a hyd unit and how to work it all? The unit works good, but the manual suxs! lol. The trailer is a Wildcat 27rls. What I am looking at, looks like a straight round rod sticking out with a cross pin through the end of it.
Thanks everyone for your time,
James

On my Trailer the Hydraulic pump is located by the front landing gear if you look at the motor side of the pump on the back of the motor you will see the sticker they are talking about. You would remove the sticker and insert a 1/4 inch hex adapter into a battery powered drill and insert into back of pump then depending on which way it rotates will determine which way the slide moves. To do it with the slide rails you would have to remove pump hoses and dump oil real messy but possible. I think that is what the factory quick diconnects are for putting a by pass into the system to do it cleaner. Also why didn't they put a ladder on the back of your cat?

IMHO the Dealer should have gone over what type systems you have and how to use them. The Manuals FR gave us when we took delivery were not helpful at all. Just keep asking questions and the people on this Forum will give you all the information you need. Again Happy Travels and Enjoy your New Wildcat. Jim

Slide Out Manual Found
Thanks everyone,
I found the matching manual on Lipperts web page. It is the electric slide out, not hyd. The dealer went through all the operation of everything and they did a PDI and everything is working good. Anyways I found what what I wanted to know.... I just wanted to know how to get the slide out in if it failed while out camping. Now I can see that I need to get a crank to run it back in manual. Time to see if the dealer can get one for me.
Everything else is pretty much basic and like my old travel trailer, but my old trailer didn't have a slide out. I did notice that I have a gray waste water tank and a gallery waste water tank. I run some fresh water through the system and only the kitchen sink drains into the gallery waste water tank. I guess if we want to know how big each tank is we just have to pour water into them a gallon at a time! lol. Like I said, the trailer is really good, but the manual tells you next to nothing.
Thanks again,
James
