Dinette Table 3-stage Telescoping Pedestal Upgrade/Mod

Post by Mopar_Earl on 3/5/2011, 1:52 pm

I installed a new 3 stage adjustable telescoping table pedestal for my dinette table. The two legs were ugly, always in the way and a major pain to deal with when making the dinette into a bed. The pedestal also supports the table while in the bed position. The pedestal has a gas strut in it to help in raising the table. It's pretty sweet. Very well made!

Note, the factory legs are on the short side so the table was below standard height and made eating awkward. New pedestal makes eating and sitting at dinette comfy.

I paid $165.00 shipped. Camping World wants $289.00 plus shipping at member cost!! Seller on Ebay wants $195.00 plus shipping but will take offers, I offered $150.00 and they accepted. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110598143102&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ACOSI%3AUS%3A1123

That is the same pedestal that Winnebago uses in several of their motorhomes.

Why did you have to show this? You got me thinking now.....this looks great. Don't know what DW would say if I buy this backoff

Being a DW myself, I'd say that your DW would like this. If we had the dinette, I'd like to have a single pedestal under the table instead of the two pedestals. Makes it easier to slide in and out of the booth, and it should be a lot easier to clean under there.

I wasn't able to finish it. I'll let you know when I get it fully screwed down. It started to snow and I had to quit and put the slide in before it was covered in snow.

Some of the big class A bus RV's at the RV show this past weekend had the same pedestal.

Re: Dinette Table 3-stage Telescoping Pedestal Upgrade/Mod

I just finished the install. It is very stable. I had to snug up the clamping adjusting nuts to take the play out of the pedestal. I will need to trim the trim so the table will go the whole way down into the bed position. Due to the window frame and the day/night shades, the table is away from the wall a few inches so it hits the trim on the upper inside corners of the benches. Will post before and after pics of the trim changes when I get around to doing it.

Another plus is you can release the top clamp and the table will rotate if you need extra room to slide into the bench. Also with the single pedestal you can get in and out very easy compared to the OEM twin pedestals. Also lots more leg and foot room. Not a cheap mod but I'm very happy I did it.

Nice job Earl....
Is there room between the window and the end of the table to rotate the table or do you have to allow some distance between the window and table when you set the stand in????

I lucked out that the table has enough room to rotate as it was after it was installed that I notice it could be rotated. It does rub the screen of the window when rotated. I installed the pedestal to the center of the table and than used the table to set the position of the pedestal to the floor. I had to pull the table away from the wall to allow the shades to open and close as did the factory with the OEM pedestals. Than I pushed it down into the bed position to center the table and pedestal side to side to fit between the benches. I was going to mount the pedestal dead center between the benches but the table would mount off center due to the shades and I thought that would add more leverage to the table and may cause issues with pulling out the screws. So I centered the pedestal to the table instead. I also found my table is warped, no surprise there!
