Here is Altoona, Pa. We are now paying $ 3.999 per Gal for Diesel, Has gone up .30 cents in just one week, this is crazy. Do they think we have a money tree in the back yard?

Today diesel is $4.079 here on the Northwest Coast, and climbing. Who knows what it will be tomorrow. Premium gas is the same price. There is no shortage of oil, just a shortage of scruples with oil companies.

Here in NH I've noticed a difference in pricing that goes beyond the high cost of #2 fuel oil. Used to be that diesel was either equal with or $.02 or $.03 higher than high test. As of this AM at the local Hess station diesel was $.30 higher per gallon than high test (HT was $3.59/gal. and diesel was $3.89/gal.

I think the oil companies are subsidizing the cost of gasoline by raising the cost of diesel.

For much of the last year it seemed to me that the differential between diesel and regular no lead was near $0.50; it's about $.025 now in this area of KY.
I suggest looking at the information avialable on the Energy Information Administration (part of the EPA) especially This Week inn Petroleum.

Come on, There is problems in Lybia. You know, we get like 1% of our oil from there so now our prices must go up a ton.
In my business, if a vendor raises prices, I do look eslewhere for a new vendor that can compete to keep my price stable. These oil companies are the biggest joke around. Our government wants to fix the economy and create jobs. Well, $5.00 diesel isn't going to do it.
I am against our government sticking their nose in the private sector because they will screw that up too. But maybe in the oil industry, they should.
JMHO.

It might be time to try it again.

The only way for the people to dent this monopoly is to boycott one of the oil companies until prices fall. It doesn't matter which one, they are in collusion on this together.

Re: Fuel prices

Post by Glen Schumann on 3/7/2011, 1:19 pm

Part of the rise in the price of oil has been the instability in northern Africa and the Middle East including concern over whether or not the House of Saud (Saudia Arabia) is a stable as it appears to be. Were the Saud family to lose control of Saudi Arabia all bets could be off on their supply of oil. If the new power in SA were anti US it could mean a precipitous drop in oil supplies coming our way. Over 10% of our oil comes from SA. As an aside, the EPA was created to REDUCE oil imports. How has that been working out?

Diesel prices in the U.K. have now hit £1.41 per litre ($8.61 per U.S gallon). It is going to hurt a lot more soon the Government over here are going to put more tax on fuel in April.

I saw on the news a day or so back where two gas stations across the street from each other had $1.00 per gallon difference on unleaded. It sure pays to look around these days. I know there are web sites like www.gasbuddy.com, and probably some cell phone apps that make it easy to locate the best price. I've found them to be fairly accurate. But still... gasman

Regular unleaded and ethanol both jumped .20 cents overnight here. Went from $3.55 to $3.75 for regular unleaded, ethanol is typically .10 cents cheaper.
