topper for sofa matress
Has anyone bought or used a foam memory topper on the fold out sofa?
I use one on the main bed but planning on taking another couple along this year. Torn on a replacement matress which probally be just as horribale as we have nor or put a mattress toppper on top like about 1 1/2. Now the next question will the sofa fold back up like this. Anybody try it or reccomend one or the other?

I have a memory foam topper on our fold out bed, it certainly makes a difference for the user. We can also keep it on the mattress when we fold the bed away.

We have a thick foam mattress topper for our sofa, and the sofa will fold up with the topper and sheets on. Can't remember if we folded the blanket in there or not. Our guests have said it was comfortable, but I don't know if they were just being polite. Anybody ever tried the boards that go over the bars under the mattress?

My topper is about 1 1/2 inches thick. and goes in the bed quite well.
Also I have a 3/4 inch board under the cushions that we use to stop the sag in the cushions and to extend the bed to make it wider, not very pretty but effective.

We also have a 1 1/2" memory foam topper on our fold away. It's just thick enough to eliminate feeling the cross/support bars, but thin enough to fold back in with the mattress. We've noticed that it takes a little time for it to decompress once the mattress has been extended out for sleeping.

I just bought a 4" topper from WalMart for $99 and am planning to keep it on the main bed and remove it when we use the folding sofa I think this is the best way for us to do it in our fiver.

My old 5th wheel had the old style mattress type hide-a-bed. I always folding it up with sheets, blankets, and those plastic board things made for couch beds for the bars. The plastic boards helped but you could still feel the steel framing.

TC - Do you think that topper will work with the bed warmers?

It would probably work. If you have the warmer under the memory foam, it might take quite a while for the heat to get through the foam.
We have, starting at the mattress, memory foam, memory foam mattress pad, electric mattress pad, thin mattress pad and then the sheets. That's in the colder months. In the summer, we don't use the electric pad or the thin pad.
