Kitchen Skylight Shade Install/Mod

Post by Mopar_Earl on 2/20/2011, 2:04 pm

Below are pictures of the Carefree of Colorado skylight shade that I installed for my kitchen skylight. Will probably act as some insulation from heat and cold. I no longer have to worry about the UV's fading my flooring and such. Also great when people are sleeping downstairs to prevent the sun or pole lights from disturbing them. I also installed one for my shower skylight.

I have four of those shades in my trailer. Two in the slides, one in the bunk house and one in the shower.

DO NOT KEEP THEM CLOSED LONG TERM. Plastic will break and shatter.

The black backing absorbs heat.

We were at the RV show in Houston a couple of weeks back, and I loved the kitchen skylight they had in a couple of 5th wheels. But they also had a shade that worked like the day/night shades built into the inside casing of the skylight. Very cool and very practical. My wife wasn't able to reach it, but I was.

Was standard for a while instead of a roof vent. I'd of rather had the roof vent. But it does brighten up the kitchen a lot.
