Snow off roof

Snow off roof
I want to clear the snow off my Cat roof, what is the best way of doing that? I don't want to walk on the roof when its cold like this, I don't want to stess the roof membrane and have issues later. I don't want to use a shovel in case it scrapes or tears the roof? I have seen what my plastic shovel does to my hot tub cover? and that is probally much thicker than the roof membrane. I am thinking a BIG step ladder and pulling it off using a soft bristle 2 foot push broom?

I think you answered your own question. A ladder and a soft bristle brush/broom would probably be the safest way to get the snow off of the roof.

OK perfect, its going to be a big job, not looking forward to moving the ladder 100 times between two other rv's, hope I scratch nothing!!

Re: Snow off roof
Ever heard of a roof rake? It is a blade on a LOONNGG handle with small wheels one bottom to keep the blade off the shingles. Mine as about 17 feet of handle in three sections. That and a ladder should do it.

You could just turn on the heat.

I like the idea of the roof rake with the long handle, much better than a 6 foot handle, I wouldn't have to move the ladder much, I would go broke trying to heat up the Cat to remove 2 feet of snow.

I don't know about using a roof rake on the roof of a RV without damaging skylights or the antenna. You could solve your problem the way I did. Hook on to that GMC put it in 4 wheel drive LOW to get to the nearest clear road and then head way down south, by the time you get to Atlanta, Georgia all the snow will be gone. Jim

I like the south idea as well but have no TV as of now, the FW rails have to be put in my new truck, and I don't feel like busting knuckes in this cold putting them in.... I figure it's a 3-4 beer job putting them in, I think the beer will freeze in between drinks?!?!?!

I have used a roof rake and just don't go all the way to the surface. No problem leaving some snow on the roof, I just removed the majority of it.
