How to Identify Bad Trailer Tires

Post by PapaJim on 2/4/2011, 1:08 pm

With our Wildcat in for warranty work, repair the damage due to a tire blow out, and have annual maintenance, the technicians discovered that the three other tires were separating inside and we are getting all new tires. They told me what to look for and I realize that I had seen that before the blow out and thought it was a tire pressure issue. The tire pressure was fine.

Here is the way to find internal tire separation:

The center part of the tire tread starts bulging like having wear on the outside of an under inflated tire. The difference was there was no wear on the outer tread and the tire was properly inflated. I tried taking a picture but the tires are still mounted and not able to get a clear shot. I will post pictures when the tires are replaced. Incidently the tires are Greenball.
