fort wilderness

Post by Eric on 2/3/2011, 2:47 pm

I am planing a first time trip from New York to Disneys Fort Wilderness from Nov 5 - Nov11. What are the best loops and sites to get? Can I reserve a specific site? What can everyone tell me about the camground. Thanks, Eric

Eric,
In response to your inquiry, I've started a primer for Fort Wilderness in Camp Ground Reviews. I'll be adding to it regularly. If you have any specific questions, please ask, and someone will be able to give you the answers you need.

the last time we went we stayed in the loop that was across from the pool at the trading post. Very convenient and great for the kids , its a premium so the lots are huge. not loud at all.

I think that was loop 1000. Nice loop, we stayed in it before it was improved. Much nicer now with the wider sites.

Thanks for the primer Scruffy and Tater, very informative. Would you recommend a specific site and loop. I know they may not hold a specific site but I shall try. We will be traveling with 3 kids, no pets. Thanks

Eric, depending on the age of your kids, the 1200 or 1300 loop might be good for you also. Both of these are premium loops and share a common entrance off a main road (Fort Wilderness Trail). Near the entrance is a playground with a newer climbing structure/slides, a basketball court, and a beach volleyball pit. It is relatively close to the Meadows area and therefore a short walk or bike ride to the store, pool, outdoor theatre, and rental barn. You can borrow a basketball/volleyball from the rental barn, but it's a lot easier to just bring one with you.

We stayed in 1300 last October, it is our new favorite loop.

Yep the 1000 loop is awesome. Seemed like the bigger sites were on the outside of the loop. Inside of the loop has big sites but the outter ones have more yard space.
