First Car

Post by AVid on 2/2/2011, 12:09 pm

First topic message reminder :

We were sitting around waiting for the snow to stop, and got into a discussion about first cars. I'm not talking about Mom or Dads car that you borrowed, but your very first car that you owned.

Mine was a 1965 Chevy Corvair. My Dad sold it to me and he made me pay every cent. Next was a 1970 Camaro Z28. Really wish I had that one back.

I'll bet everyone remembers their first auto...what's yours?

John

Just wondering was those cows hustled or rustled? Well at least you kept it in the family. Jim

My dads brothers both had cows on adjoining property. So whenever their cows would have calfs I'd always be hitting them up for a calf. Before long I had a pretty big herd of my own. They were just happy for me to show some interest in farming. They all had girls that weren't into anything. thats one time it paid off being the only male around.
Great Story. Jim

'64 Chevy Impala SS, 327, auto in the floor. Me and my Dad hauled it out of a briar patch.Got it when I was 15. Was working after school to save up the money to buy it after begging the guy to sell it to me. Came home from school one day and my Dad said " Lets go I need you to help me go get something". He had went and bought it for me.We pulled it home and I was smiling from ear to ear Laughing . A few months of hard work and we had it going with new paint, motor and interior .That was one of those memories you never forget. My Dads passed away but I still got the car out in my shop....

My first car was a 1961 Plymouth Belvedere. It was like driving a boat down the road. While I was sitting at a Steak N Shake, some guy backed into me, messing up the automatic transmission. After that, I had no reverse or neutral, and had to shift using the push buttons on the dash.

68 Mustang with the 200 6cyl Loved that thing. Bought when I was 16 and had it fixed and running by the time I was almost 17. Could not drive it anyway till I had a "B" average in school (both parents were teachers)

My first car was a 1956 Chevy. Totalled it and got a 59 Chevy that I was afraid to drive after my accident.

Not sure what Scruffy's first car was - I don't think it was that big 'ole Nash he had when we were dating. He sometimes talks about an old Ford..... that might have been his first.

Scruffy tells me his first car was a 1946 Ford. That Nash though - that was a CAR. Big as a tank, sometimes it wouldn't shift into reverse. After the Nash he got a 1958 Chevy convertible. We wish we still had that '58.

I'm going to date myself, but I had a 1988 Ford Ranger w/ the 2.9L. Bought it used with 77k on it. It got me through the latter half of high school and 7 years of college. When I sold it had well over 220k on it (it was on its second engine). I currently drive my second vehicle. I've had it for 11 years now.
