It must be nice to live in an area that is warm enough that you can work on your Wildcat in JANUARY.
You did a great job on the photos.

Ok, onetonford, You win for the best looking stabilizers.
I have started collecting parts to make a set, so how about some sizes of tubing and the rod ends? If it ever gets dry enough to get under my cat to take some final measurments, I'll get started.

Where did pick up the material for the sewer hose holders. Also are they plastic? Jim

The stabilizers look great. Scruffy says if he was still working, he'd copy them. Something about not having the right kind of tools or equipment for that kind of work.

Tater,
I think Scruffy may be forgetting on of the most important MAN RULES: Each new project must require the purchase of at least one new tool. I urge him to take advantage of this opportunity.

Re: Some Mods I did this Weekend
I'm going to have to get some of the 5" vinyl fences post (blanks) from my local fencing guy. He sells them for around $15 each post and a buck or two for the caps. Good enough for a sewer hose and holds the fittings too. I've been keeping the hose in a bag in front storage. It smells like crap in there somedays..

I know what you are talking about. Our New Challenger doesn't have a bumper so they designed a little compartment that would only hold a 10 foot hose without ends, I didn't think about the sewer hose storage until a week after we took delivery, I store the hoses in air tight box in the front compartment. How are you going to attach the caps to the fences post? Thanks Jim

Not sure yet, but I imagine I may use some steel strapping (lie the OP did) or run it parallel to the frame and rest it on the bottom flange. The vinyl posts are plastic so they need all the support they can get. Since the hose compresses, I'm only going to use a 3-4' section of post. I have a oops post left over from a recent 3-rail fence project that might work well. I just need to measure the length below the bottom rail to the bottom of the post (and scrap the residual concrete off).

I picked them up from Home Depot they are about 25 bucks apiece and 8ft long I made the brackets f rom stainless steel 16 gauge plate cut about 2" wide and about 18" long then bent them at 5-1/32" intervales leaving about 1-1/2" on the ends for mounting also I riveted the cap on one end and used a hindge and snap latch for the other useing the rivets from the inside out to keep from damaging the hose also the capped end is about 1" lower with drain holes drilled in the end at the bottom. By the way the post I bought were of the heavy wall about 1/8" thick and they hold themselves up in the middle very well.

well he would need a Knee Mill on the lower brackets and a heliarc welder for the tube welding of which I own the welder but i have access to the mill at work. I only own some metal lathes of which I made some of the tooling on the welded nuts.

The rod eyes are metric 10 mm because the nuts fit into the 3/4" EMT and are ss so they heli arc great. also the other part that slides into it are 24" long 3/4 steel rod. I tried 1/2" EMT but the lock bolts tend to damage it too much so I went with the steel rod. The tubes are about 26" and 40" long You have to check your landing gear width and subtract the rod end lengths the sliding rod only moves about 7" to 10" depending on how far you have to drop them also the lock bolts are 5/16 grade 8 hex cap screws the kind that normally use a allen wrench with a flat bottom not cupped with a 1/4" ss rod 2" long welded T style.

Re: Some Mods I did this Weekend
I have been having weekends off due to light duty because of a shoulder injury I had gotten about three months ago and I have to have surgery on it as soon as the workers comp insurance O.K.s it so I been doing stuff to the cat when I am not hurting to bad. I get bored real fast and this computer is not enough so I just try to figure somthing to do to the cat that is fairly easy and not to demanding. pain usually lets me know when I am pushing it so it takes a little longer for me to get it done. just last week my work truck had to be torn down to fix a blown intake manifold gasket. It took me 1 day to tear it down and another to put it back together. but it is a V-6 and the manifold is only about 10 lbs. I have been doing stuff almost every weekend now since my injury. But after surgery It is going to be a few weeks.

Re: Some Mods I did this Weekend
Scruffy looked at that project and knew what tools he would need. He just doesn't have any room to keep metal working tools.... as much as he would like to have that stuff to tinker with. When he was working, he was able to do a lot of "government jobs" using company equipment. He'd much rather be retired, though, than working.
