Silver

Post by Richard Mondavi on 1/29/2011, 7:46 am

I know most people don’t pay much attention to the precious metals market so I want to give everyone a heads up. The price of silver is very high right now. It closed on Friday at $27.91 per ounce. I don’t know if the price of silver will continue to rise or not, but now would be a good time to cash in any pre-1965 silver coins you might have stashed away and not thought about for years. Pre-1965 Dimes up to Silver Dollars are 90% silver and most coin shops right now are paying $18.50 to $18.80 per one dollar of face value.
That is a heck of a return on your money in any investment market. Just something to think about.

BTW, Kennedy half dollars from 1965 to 1970 are 40% silver and, depending on which coin dealer you go to, you can get from $3.00 to $3.50 per coin.

Any metal seems to be worth money at the moment. I took some ferrous metal to the scrap dealer today and they were paying £200.00 ($317)per 20 cwt.

I collect alot of silver coins and bars. I'm hanging on to mine. I think its gonna go much higher maybe even have a big jump in the near future. Just wish I had more money to buy more now.
