Speaking of batteries?

Speaking of batteries?
I've recently been told that one should swap (r to l, l to r) annually to produce "even wear" on the batteries on both the CAT and your TV. Seems the one closest to the action (starter, etc) takes the biggest hit and usually fails first. I hadn't ever heard of this and thought you guys might help me ponder the question. I thought the 2 batt thing was more for extension of Amp hours rather than load duty. However, I freely admit ignorance of DC power other than "check the grounding first!"
Thanks for any input.

Re: Speaking of batteries?
If the batteries are wired in series (2x6 volt) I could not really see this making a difference, because the power is being drawn off both batteries at the same time.
12 volt batteries if wired correctly in parallel you should have the positive feed from one battery to the fuse/trips and the ground from the other battery to the ground terminal on the Cat, so in effect changing the batteries would not make a difference.
What is more important is have batteries that are matched, same type, same age because if you have one old and one new this could make the new battery deteriorate much quicker than normal.

Re: Speaking of batteries?
I totally agree on the CAT. I may have misled by including it. I am more concerned about the dual battery hook-up in the Silverado. A friend mentioned it the other day and I had never heard of "rotation" but I have also not had much experience with the dual battery configuration. Just curious?

Re: Speaking of batteries?
I've never heard of doing this(which really doesn't mean anything
) but my Ford was 4.5 years old and I never rotated my batteries. When I traded it in on my BEAUTIFUL NEW SUPER DODGE
, it had the original batteries still in it.

I've been to serveral battery classes and there's not such thing. If the batteries are wired together they are used equally. Somone is blowing smoke.

Sean is spot on above!
In a parallel circuit (2-12 volters) its absolutely a must to have the load side terminals connected as in Seans post. If both positive and negative load side leads are connected to the same battery it can and will drain one slighly faster than the other.

You always draw the lucky stick, except with the weather.
A buddy of mine owns a big battery warehouse, I'll pass that "?" by him about the loads / doubles,,,,
I've been buying his rebuilt batteries for sometimes less than half the cost of a new one from the parts store or walmart, They seem to last just as long.

Re: Speaking of batteries?
I have seen were the last battery (the one hooked to the ground) will go before the rest when hooked in parallel. Not saying that will happen every time.
