Drapes

We're hoping our new drapes keep the warmth in and cold out in the winter, and vice-versa in the summer. These are insulating drapes. We bought 4 42x48 ready made panels, and I cut them down to make drapes for the entire downstairs, except the window by the kitchen sink. We covered the reflextix that Scruffy cut for the door window, and will cover the reflextix that covers the useless little window up above the slide.
The lamp is new, too.

Re: Drapes
We left the day/night shades up. Just provides that much more insulation. During the day, with the drapes open, we put the day/night shades all the way up. For privacy or to keep extreme or direct sunlight out, we'll probably put the day shades down. We traveled in drizzle and light rain a couple days, and the windows are very dirty. After Scruffy washes the windows, I'll take a couple more pix with the Shades open.
I ordered the ready-mades from JCPenney. I can look up the details and provide them if anyone is interested. I can also e-mail the cutting layouts and some instructions to anyone who wants them...send me a private message with your email ID. If you are new here, to send a PM, click MP on the left side of this post.

Hi Tater,
Did you use a spring loaded rod, or what?
I like the way they open all the way up.

Re: Drapes
Thanks for the nice comments.
Some of you have requested the cutting layouts. I've been working on them in my spare time, getting them ready to share. Since I'm on vacation, though, my spare time is limited. I'll be sure to get them ready when we get home.... sometime in the middle of next week. Sooner, if we have a rainy day... actually looks like we might.

You have more room between your couch and the table. We would never be able to set our table like that.

Re: Drapes
I used an extra drape in our bedroom for the large window--- trying to keep out the light. Never even thought about the other windows. I just might have to do that for this summer to help keep it cooler inside!

Re: Drapes
Internet Explorer has its good moments and bad moments. A lot of those bad moments are in email. The instructions for the drapes have a written page and 15 photos.
I was able to upload the photos to our Picasa album (link is in our signature). Since the written page is text, I should be able to send it in email. So - those of you who sent your email IDs should be looking for the instructions very soon.

Thank you. One thing that would be nice on this sight is if everybody that did a mod would provide pictures and instructions. Pictures look great in the gallery but the printed word rules. Again thank you.

Re: Drapes
Writing instructions is a PITA.
Most people just don't have the time or don't want to take the time to write them out. If I remember to do it, I take photos during the construction process, and if someone really wants to copy the project, figuring it out shouldn't be too difficult. I'd rather do that than write. Sometimes I write a brief explanation in the captions in the picasa album.

You are one of the ones that does help as much as possible. Pictures and product numbers are what we need the most. I agree instructions are a PITA. I miss spoke on that one. I humbly apologize. The ones that do not provide anything need to answer there emails. But anyway another rainy day in Central CA. Have a great day.
